Via del Mare 104, 09049 Villasimius

Mon, Wed–Sun 06:30–20:30

La Perla is the pastry shop and café run under the name of Mercedes Cadoni at Via del Mare 104-106, on the road that leads from the center of Villasimius down toward the marina. It opens at 6:30 in the morning, six days a week, and stays closed on Tuesdays. The counter holds what an Italian pasticceria should: cornetti and cream-filled shells for breakfast, mignon pastries, fruit tartlets, single-portion desserts, semifreddi and Sicilian cannoli, plus savory pizzette and focaccia. The reason to come here rather than to any bar, though, is the Sardinian sweets made in-house: gueffus, pabassinas, pardulas, pane 'e saba and amaretti, the biscuits and small cakes that families on the island bake for feast days. All of it is baked on the premises, and cakes for birthdays, weddings and other celebrations can be ordered, including lactose-free versions. For a family staying in a vacation rental nearby, La Perla works as the morning routine: coffee and pastries at one of the tables outside or at the counter, then a tray of sweets to take back to the house. Around midday it also serves a light lunch of large salads and a tagliere of cured meats and cheese, and the shop does catering for parties held in a rented villa. There is parking next door, cards are accepted, and the marina and the beaches beyond are a short drive down the same road. Table service costs a little more than standing at the bar. Phone orders for cakes go to +39 070 791326.

Sa Morisca Ristorante Pizzeria

Via Matteotti 7-9, 09049 Villasimius

+393311810817

Mon–Thu 19:30–23:00; Fri–Sun 12:30–14:30, 19:30–23:00

Sa Morisca takes its name from the Sardinian word for the prickly pear. It has been run by the same family since 2003 under the arcades at the end of Via del Mare, at Via Matteotti 7-9, right in the center of Villasimius. The room is fitted out in stone and wood with plants and warm lighting, and there is a terrace and a small garden for eating outside. The kitchen does fresh fish from local waters, Sardinian dishes such as culurgiones, spaghetti with clams and bottarga, fregula, tuna tataki and beef fillet in cannonau, plus the day's catch grilled and priced by weight. Pizzas come from a wood-fired oven, with classics alongside house pizzas named after local beaches like Giunco and Is Traias. What sets the place apart for coeliac guests is its certification by the Italian Coeliac Association: gluten-free pizzas are baked in dedicated ovens, most of the menu can be ordered without gluten, and there is a gluten-free beer and Sardinian craft beers on the list, along with gin and tonics built on Sardinian gins. For a family in a rental, this is the easy evening in town: the restaurant serves dinner every day from 19:30 to 23:00, lunch only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 12:30 to 14:30, and the same hours apply year round. The menu has its own children's section with plain pasta, a burger and a cutlet. Reservations are taken by phone at +39 331 1810817 or by email, and pizzas can be ordered to take back to the house. Note the cover charge on the menu and the small surcharge for a gluten-free base. The full menu with prices is published on the restaurant's website.

3 Place des Marronniers, 16190 Salles-Lavalette

+33620354743

L'Envie Gourmande is a village restaurant and bar on Place des Marronniers in Salles-Lavalette. Stéphane and Carine run a place with a simple, homemade approach to food and an active role in village life. The cooking draws on local products, with French, Italian and Mediterranean influences and vegetarian choices among the restaurant's stated specialities. The setting changes with the season. A fireplace gives the dining room a focal point in colder weather, while the terrace looks out towards the Charente countryside. There are two dining rooms and a total of around 60 indoor covers, together with approximately 30 terrace places. It is a useful address for a meal in the village rather than a roadside stop. Food and social events add variety to the usual menu. The village calendar includes regional food evenings, music gatherings and activities at the bar. Past and announced themes include dishes from Alsace and Auvergne, so check the programme when you are staying nearby. These events have their own dates and should be booked directly where required. Families have practical facilities including a highchair, changing table, play area, board games and table football. Free private parking is available, dogs are welcome and takeaway service is offered. Opening hours change between the main summer period and the rest of the year. Call before travelling for dinner, or to ask what is cooking and whether a music or themed evening is scheduled during your stay.

Restaurant L’École

1371 Route Léo Laffargue, 24320 Vendoire

+33524141191

Restaurant L'École occupies the former village school in Vendoire, with the old school setting shaping the experience as much as the menu. This is a seasonal address: its published 2026 season runs from May into September, so contact the restaurant before planning a visit at another time of year. During the season, the flower-filled garden provides a setting for an aperitif, followed by dinner under the former covered playground. The restaurant is relatively small, with around 25 covers. It suits an evening when you want to sit down for food prepared to order and enjoy the garden surroundings, rather than simply make a quick stop between destinations. The kitchen works with fresh and local ingredients for homemade dishes. Its own food photographs illustrate garden tomatoes and harvests, smoked fish, prawns, scallops, pissaladière and lemon tart. These examples show the range of its cooking, while the actual choice depends on the current menu. Ask what is available when booking, especially if one of those ingredients is central to your plans. Sandrine Duvernois is the named operator, and reservations can be made by telephone. The restaurant lists a children's corner, accessible facilities, parking and Wi-Fi, and can discuss private celebrations. Evening meals and Sunday lunch form the published seasonal pattern. Check the opening dates, kitchen hours and arrangements for a larger party directly; the surrounding garden and small dining capacity make advance planning worthwhile.

14 Avenue de l’Angoumois, 16190 Montmoreau

+33545678334

Le Bistroquet is Catherine and Thierry Laporte's restaurant on Avenue de l'Angoumois in Montmoreau. Its cooking follows the market and local produce, with homemade dishes served in a bistro setting. The town's restaurant guide also highlights a lunchtime dish of the day and wine by the glass, making it an option for lunch as well as a more leisurely evening meal. The kitchen's own illustrated dishes give an idea of its range. Examples include Limousin beef carpaccio, tuna cooked on the plancha with sauce vierge, truffle tagliatelle and a red-fruit pavlova. These are examples of the restaurant's changing cooking, rather than a fixed menu to expect on every visit. Consult the current menu if you are choosing the restaurant for a particular dish. In summer, the shaded terrace and lounge sit beneath four mulberry trees. Inside, the main restaurant has around 40 covers, while a separate room can accommodate a private party of 12 to 15. The smaller room is useful for a family gathering when arranged with the owners beforehand. Parking is available at the rear on Place de la Tude, with access to the terrace from that side. The restaurant offers accessible facilities and accepts card payments. Lunch and dinner have separate service windows; Sunday is lunch only and Monday is the closing day. Book directly, especially for the private room or a terrace table, and ask about takeaway arrangements if you plan to eat elsewhere.

30 Avenue de l’Angoumois, 16190 Montmoreau

+33545602024

Le Bifana is a Franco-Portuguese bar and restaurant on Avenue de l'Angoumois in Montmoreau. Food is part of a sociable setting that also includes billiards, darts, sports screenings and music. It is a choice for a meal with some bar atmosphere, particularly when a weekend event is taking place. Portuguese-style cod is one of the house specialities, with a cod dish normally offered at weekends. Tapas plates and burgers with homemade chips provide other options. For a shared meal, ask about the Chapeau Grill: pieces of meat cook on spikes around a hat-shaped grill, while vegetables below catch the cooking juices. This particular dish requires advance reservation, so it is something to arrange rather than assume will be available on arrival. The restaurant has two air-conditioned rooms and approximately 40 covers. Billiards tournaments are advertised for Saturdays, and the team can arrange events or lively weekend evenings. If you would prefer a quieter meal, telephone to check the programme before choosing your time. The municipality also lists takeaway service, useful when you want dinner back at your accommodation. Dogs are welcome and card payments are accepted. Published opening hours distinguish morning and lunchtime opening from evening sessions, with a shorter Monday. Confirm kitchen times directly rather than treating all bar opening hours as meal service. The phone number and email provide direct ways to reserve the grill, ask about the weekend cod dish or check arrangements for your party.

Bistrot Les Cluzeaux is on Rue de Ribérac in La Rochebeaucourt-et-Argentine, on the Dordogne side of the border with Charente. Mathieu took over the restaurant in 2024 and gives its cooking a traditional foundation, using fresh, local and seasonal produce when supplies allow. The address combines a seated restaurant meal with tapas and occasional themed evenings. The Retour du Marché menu changes weekly and is served at weekday lunchtimes. It offers a starter, main course and dessert, while a separate blackboard selection gives further choices. The published tapas menu includes Serrano ham, duck croquettes, baked mussels, tuna tataki and baby squid with parsley and garlic. These smaller dishes make it possible to start with several flavours before choosing a main course. Examples on the restaurant's published main menu include veal with porcini cream, duck breast with thyme and honey, and cod with porcini sabayon. A vegetarian plate changes with the kitchen's current selection. Orange cheesecake, frozen nougat and strawberry pavlova appear among the desserts. Check the latest blackboard when you arrive, since the market-led approach means individual dishes can change. Reservations are taken directly by telephone. The published weekly timetable runs from Tuesday to Saturday, with separate lunch and evening periods; Monday and Sunday are closed. Ask about the current programme if you would like to combine dinner with one of the themed evenings, and mention dietary requirements when booking. Use the full 33 Rue de Ribérac address when arranging your visit.

16 Grand Rue, 16320 Villebois-Lavalette

+33545212856

Chez Ninie is a pizzeria and restaurant on Grand Rue in Villebois-Lavalette, offering a straightforward choice of Italian and Mediterranean dishes. It works for a sit-down meal in the village or a takeaway to bring back after a day out. Pizza is a central part of the offering, but it is not the only reason to stop here. The selection also includes salads, grilled dishes and fresh pasta, with tagliatelle specifically among the restaurant's specialities. Vegetarian choices are available, and ice cream offers a simple way to finish. This range is useful when one person wants pizza while someone else prefers pasta or a plate from the grill. Ask about the current selection when ordering, particularly if you have a dietary requirement. There is an indoor dining room and a covered outdoor terrace. The restaurant lists 48 indoor covers and 22 terrace places, so the outdoor area is relatively small compared with the dining room. For a larger gathering, group menus can be arranged on request; contact the team before bringing a party rather than relying on space being available. Takeaway service makes Chez Ninie a practical alternative when you prefer to eat at your accommodation. Dogs are welcome, and card and contactless payments are accepted. Opening days vary in summer, when Wednesday service is added to the usual schedule. Telephone ahead to check the kitchen hours and to arrange a group meal.

Il Barrante

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue Alper Tunga Danyıldız / Pexels

Via Vittorio Veneto 151, 17021 Alassio

+390182648736

Il Barrante combines a Neapolitan pizzeria with a seafood restaurant on Via Vittorio Veneto, close to Alassio's beach. Its family-oriented approach makes it useful for a table whose guests want different things from the same meal: a familiar pizza, a plate of Ligurian pasta or a more substantial fish course. Lunch, dinner and a separate late-afternoon aperitivo service provide several ways to fit a visit into a day by the sea. The pizza list begins with Margherita, Marinara and anchovy-topped Napoletana, then moves into richer combinations. Parmigiana brings fried aubergine and Parmesan to the tomato-and-mozzarella base; Mortazza combines burrata, smoked provola, mortadella and pistachio. There are also spicy salami, four-cheese and buffalo-mozzarella choices, so both a simple order and a more elaborate topping are possible. The kitchen gives equal attention to coastal dishes. Start with Ligurian octopus salad, mussels or anchovies with panissa, then consider seafood scialatielli, spaghetti with clams or trofie with homemade pesto, potatoes and green beans. Grilled fish, mixed seafood fry and pistachio-crusted tuna sit alongside beef, burgers and Ligurian-style rabbit, while a children's selection keeps simpler appetites in mind. Desserts continue the meeting of local and southern Italian influences, with an Alassio hazelnut-and-coffee speciality, classic tiramisù and Neapolitan babà among the choices. The range makes Il Barrante particularly practical for families and mixed groups. Telephone for a table and mention any dietary needs so the staff can guide you through the menu.

Vico Berno 6, 17021 Alassio

+390182640387

Osteria Mezzaluna has occupied Vico Berno since 1993, in a small lane linking Alassio's shopping streets with the sea. Candlelit interiors and outdoor tables among plants and flowers give it the atmosphere of a Mediterranean neighbourhood osteria. Acoustic live music is part of its evening identity, so dinner here can become an occasion to linger as well as a chance to explore the menu. Sharing is an easy way to begin. Boards combine cured meats and cheeses from southern Italy, while pinzimonio pairs fresh vegetables with savoury dips. Mussels can be ordered with white wine and pepper or with basil pesto, potatoes and green beans. The seafood starters also include marinated anchovies and a combination of smoked fish and tuna. Ligurian pasta has a strong presence: trofie arrive with pesto, potatoes and beans, and ricotta-and-herb pansotti are served with walnut sauce. Seafood scialatielli and fish-filled ravioli offer alternatives, while grilled tuna, swordfish and squid move the meal towards a main course. Vegetarian choices include chickpea panissa, grilled vegetables and cheeses; children have their own smaller selection. Desserts range from fruit tiramisù to homemade cakes and fruit sorbets, with moka-brewed coffee to finish. Check the music programme if you have a particular evening in mind. Online table requests need to be made at least 24 hours ahead and require the restaurant's confirmation; call for larger groups or more immediate plans. The published evening schedule includes a Tuesday rest day.

Passeggiata Dino Grollero 18, 17021 Alassio

+390182660573

Clapsy Alassio stands between the town's narrow shopping streets and the sea on Passeggiata Dino Grollero. Orange accents brighten the outdoor tables, while handmade Vietri tiles carry that colour into the dining room. This was the first restaurant opened by Claudio and Orietta in the Clapsy family, whose story began in 2004. It is a convivial seaside address for pizza, fish and the group's own take on cheese focaccia. The focaccia is an important part of the restaurant's identity. Two thin layers enclose creamy crescenza cheese, with a classic version as well as combinations involving pesto and pine nuts, smoked speck, aubergine or other additions. Claudio learned the method while working in Recco's bakeries and developed the restaurant's own interpretation from that experience. Pizza lovers can choose between the especially thin, crisp style and a separate Neapolitan selection. The thin Margherita pairs tomato, mozzarella and basil; the vegetarian version adds courgettes, aubergine and rocket. Among the Neapolitan choices, Partenopea uses San Marzano tomato and fior di latte, while Campagnola brings grilled vegetables and burrata. There are also richer combinations with sausage, spicy salami and regional cheeses. Seafood and Ligurian country cooking broaden the offer beyond the oven. The restaurant describes its sourcing around the fish markets of Savona and Imperia, regional olive oil and selected Italian produce. It is a useful option when some of the table want pizza and others prefer a restaurant meal. Contact this Alassio branch directly to arrange your table and confirm service times.

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue Masuma Rahaman / Pexels

Passeggiata Baracca 25, 17021 Alassio

+390182642557

La Prua has welcomed diners to Alassio's seafront since 1978. On Passeggiata Baracca, the restaurant combines three indoor dining rooms with a veranda overlooking the beach. In summer, tables can extend directly onto the sand; in cooler weather, the sheltered spaces keep the sea close to the meal. It is a setting suited to a leisurely lunch, a dinner for two or a celebration arranged with the restaurant. The kitchen draws on Ligurian and Mediterranean cooking while giving individual dishes a contemporary direction. Raw seafood selections follow the day's availability, with prawns, langoustines, oysters and fish prepared to order. Roast octopus comes with anchovy-flavoured crushed potato, tomato and Taggiasca olive, while a courgette flan with Raschera cheese offers a vegetable-based starter. Pasta and rice choices include traditional trofie, seafood spaghetti to share, and Carnaroli rice with trombetta courgette, langoustine and smoked burrata. The day's Ligurian fish can be grilled, baked in salt or prepared in the local style. Other dishes include sesame-crusted tuna, sea bass with basil and grilled Fassona beef with seasonal vegetables, giving companions different ways to build a meal. The wine selection includes regional bottles as well as wines from elsewhere in Italy. Desserts range from an espresso tiramisù to lemon-and-basil ice cream with Ligurian stroscia and strawberry compote. Reserve ahead if you would like a particular seaside setting, and check which outdoor tables and fish specialities are available for your visit.

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue Nadin Sh / Pexels

Via Lepanto 1, Frazione Solva, 17021 Alassio

+390182644744

Ristorante La Vigna sits above Alassio in the hamlet of Solva, where its terrace looks across the gulf. A grape pergola, flowers and softly coloured interiors give the osteria a different atmosphere from the busy seafront below. The setting encourages a slower meal, with the view forming part of the occasion and the kitchen keeping the ingredients of the surrounding region in focus. Its cooking brings together the western Ligurian coast, Provence and the Langhe. Fresh pasta, bread and pastries are made in house, and the menu changes with the seasons. Seafood has a central role: raw violet prawns and langoustines, local fish, tuna, octopus and gently cooked salt cod appear among the restaurant's specialities. An oyster selection offers another way to begin a meal by the coast. The pasta repertoire is particularly distinctive. Agnolotti al plin are filled with roast rabbit, while seafood tortelli, tagliolini with prawns or lobster, and Carnaroli seafood rice show the maritime side of the kitchen. Meat eaters can look for Ligurian-style rabbit, Fassona beef and slow-cooked veal. Seasonal vegetables accompany the main dishes rather than being treated as an afterthought. The restaurant also gives careful attention to its wine selection, so the meal can be planned around a bottle as well as a dish. Book a table directly and use the Solva address when arranging your journey: this is a hillside destination above the town. Ask about the current seasonal menu and terrace availability when making your reservation.

Carretera Nacional 340, km 79.3, Playa de Los Lances, 11380 Tarifa

+34956685246

Restaurante Miramar is the restaurant of Hotel Arte Vida, beside Los Lances beach on Tarifa's Atlantic coast. Sea views towards Africa form part of the setting, while the kitchen describes its approach as Mediterranean and international, based on fresh market ingredients. It offers a sit-down meal in the same coastal surroundings that attract visitors for the beach and water sports. Fish and shellfish are central to the menu. Garlic prawns, grilled prawns and clams provide several possible starters, followed by fresh fish whose selection changes with availability. The published card names species such as sea bass, sole, turbot and sea bream, with some whole fish sold by weight. Tuna appears in raw preparations as well as the broader seafood offering, and seafood paella is listed among the day's options. Other dishes make this more than a fish-only destination. Chicken satay and a coconut soup show the international side, while meat choices include beef tartare, beef skewers, Ibérico pork and Galician entrecôte. Vegetarian possibilities include a Laotian-style salad with tofu, gyoza, pesto pasta and leeks with romesco. These give a mixed group several routes through the meal. The restaurant also lists dishes for children and a changing homemade dessert selection. Ask the team about the fresh fish, the day's dessert and any rice dish when reserving, since those choices naturally depend on the service. Miramar advertises lunch and dinner and describes itself as open throughout the year; confirm the current kitchen schedule directly before travelling to the hotel.

Carretera Nacional 340, km 78, 11380 Tarifa

El Chozo puts the sea at the centre of a meal on Tarifa's coast. Part of Camping Torre de la Peña, the restaurant looks towards Tarifa and the Strait of Gibraltar from its position beside the ocean. Its story began in 1963 with a simple hut made from wood and straw, giving today's restaurant a connection with the early years of this coastal campsite. The menu offers several ways into the local seafood. Grilled tuna, tuna tartare and caramelised tuna belly sit alongside sea bass with dill oil and whole squid, offered grilled or fried. Daily wild-fish choices depend on the catch. Among the starters are mussels prepared in different styles, a prawn salad with Oloroso sherry and local tomatoes with tuna belly and Jerez vinegar. There is also a substantial choice beyond fish. Rice dishes include a garden-vegetable version, black rice with squid and cuttlefish, and an Ibérico preparation. Meat choices include aged beef, a lamb timbale with mushrooms and Pedro Ximénez, and a burger. For a sweet finish, the published selection includes rice pudding, cheesecake and brioche torrija scented with orange blossom. El Chozo can therefore work for a longer lunch after time by the sea or for dinner with a broad choice of dishes. Service times change between the main summer period, holiday weeks and the rest of the year, so check the restaurant's current timetable when booking. Use the direct restaurant number to arrange a table at this particular coastal location.

Carretera Nacional 340, km 76.5, Playa de Valdevaqueros, 11380 Tarifa

Tangana is a beach restaurant at Valdevaqueros, within a small complex of bungalows, gardens and a clothing boutique. The setting belongs to the stretch of Tarifa coast associated with windsurfing and kitesurfing: a place to settle down for food after the beach, with green outdoor space close to the sand. Access is from the N340 near Camping Valdevaqueros. Its menu moves comfortably between substantial beach food and lighter dishes. The Retinto beef burger comes with Emmental, bacon and onion, while a chicken version uses cheddar. Tuna tartare with avocado, an Almadraba tuna poke bowl and a salmon bowl with watermelon, edamame and wakame give seafood a prominent place. A salad combines tuna tataki with rice noodles, mango and peanuts. Other choices travel farther afield, including chicken in Thai yellow curry with jasmine rice, lasagne and pasta filled with pear and cheese. Breakfast has its own selection, served until noon: toast and molletes, yoghurt with fruit and granola, eggs, crêpes and an açaí bowl. This makes Tangana useful for different moments of the day, while the available menu should guide the choice of visiting time. Desserts include lemon cake, carrot cake, blueberry cheesecake and apple crumble, alongside coffee. The food offering is broad enough for a group with different appetites, from a sandwich to a complete meal. Contact Tangana directly for the current opening schedule and table arrangements, particularly when planning around a beach session or a busy holiday period.

Carretera Nacional 340, km 76.6, Playa de Valdevaqueros, 11380 Tarifa

Tumbao x BiBo brings Dani García's BiBo cooking to the beach atmosphere of Valdevaqueros. The Tarifa venue combines the names Tumbao and BiBo in its current identity, with a menu that places familiar Andalusian ingredients beside ideas gathered from farther afield. Its coastal setting makes it a natural place to build a meal around a visit to this stretch of sand. The evening menu gives a clear picture of the style. Guacamole starts with Málaga avocado and comes with pico de gallo, coriander and crisp totopos. Filled brioches take a richer direction: one combines chorizo, chipotle and a quail's egg, while another uses oxtail and the kitchen's Bull DG sauce. These are choices for diners who enjoy recognisable ingredients with a playful combination of textures and seasoning. Pizza and burgers give the meal another direction. The margarita uses tomato, fior di latte mozzarella and basil; other pizzas add prosciutto, pepperoni or a mixture of vegetables. Retinto beef features in the Tumbao burger with cheddar, bacon, barbecue sauce and onion. The Bull version instead pairs its beef with Havarti, lettuce and the signature sauce. Because lunch and evening menus are published separately, check the selection for your intended service rather than assuming every dish is available all day. The restaurant's own reservation channel is the best place to confirm a table and current seasonal opening. It is a useful choice for a beach-day meal when the group wants a range of approachable dishes and the distinctive cooking associated with the BiBo name.

Punta Paloma, s/n, 11380 Tarifa

El Mirlo sits beyond the dunes of Punta Paloma, where Tarifa's coast becomes a setting for a meal close to the beach. The restaurant belongs to the Marbella Club dining family, whose presentation places chef Juan Gómez behind its cooking. The appeal begins with the coastal location, then continues through a menu rooted in fish, shellfish and the products of southern Spain. A meal can start with gazpacho, potato salad with tuna belly, grilled octopus or prawns in pil-pil sauce. Fried squid, baby squid and anchovies offer another approach to the sea. Mussels with white wine, clams in marinera sauce and grilled shellfish broaden the choice, while whole fish such as sea bass, sole and turbot are listed according to weight. Almadraba bluefin tuna receives particular attention. The menu includes tiradito with truffle and ponzu, tartare with ajoblanco, tataki with salmorejo and almonds, tuna meatballs in tomato sauce and grilled tuna steak. Rice dishes are prepared for at least two people, with seafood paella and versions built around lobster, carabineros or Ibérico pork. There are also Retinto beef, lamb chops and roast cauliflower with romesco. The breakfast selection gives an earlier reason to visit, with toast accompanied by tomato, Payoyo cheese, ham or avocado. For lunch or dinner, reserve directly and ask about the current fish, rice preparations and service times. A table here is particularly suited to visitors who want a coastal excursion to include a substantial Andalusian meal rather than only a quick beach snack.

Calle San Francisco de Paula, 2, 11401 Jerez de la Frontera

+34956347475

La Carboná brings Jerez's wine culture directly to the table in a former bodega on Calle San Francisco de Paula. Its historic setting gives a meal here a clear sense of place, while the kitchen treats sherry as an ingredient as well as something to drink. Chef Javier Muñoz's approach connects local produce with contemporary preparations, making this a distinctive option for visitors who want their restaurant choice to be part of discovering Jerez. The published menu shows how that relationship works. Cod is paired with orange and Oloroso in an escabeche; an Iberian pork preparation incorporates Palo Cortado; and sea bass appears alongside chargrilled vegetables. These examples describe the restaurant's approach rather than a fixed promise for every visit, as the kitchen explicitly adjusts dishes and garnishes to the season. For a more guided meal, the La Albarizuela tasting menu follows a sequence of dishes with accompanying wines. The restaurant also publishes an à-la-carte selection and a separate midweek menu, so it is worth checking which format is available when booking. Diners choosing the paired menu should note that the restaurant serves it to the whole table. La Carboná is particularly relevant after exploring Jerez's bodegas or historic centre: the connection between the surrounding wine region and the cooking continues through the meal. Reserve directly to confirm the current menu, dietary requirements and service time.

Calle Divina Pastora, Conjunto Residencial Valdespino, bloque 6, 11403 Jerez de la Frontera

Albalá offers a contemporary way to explore Jerez's cooking near the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. Located in the Valdespino residential complex on Calle Divina Pastora, it is convenient for a meal away from the busiest historic-centre squares. The restaurant presents the culinary identity of Israel Ramos through a relaxed format that gives equal room to sharing plates and a more substantial lunch. Its menu is organised into clear sections for produce, small bites, shared dishes, spoon dishes, seafood, meat and desserts. Almadraba tuna, sherry vinegar and local wine references place the cooking in its Andalusian setting, while citrus ponzu, Thai-style seasoning and pibil preparations show an interest in flavours beyond the region. Sea-bass ceviche with avocado is one published example of that combination. There is considerable variety for a table that wants to share: the menu includes asparagus tempura, oxtail croquettes, grilled squid and a cheek-and-chicken cannelloni with Oloroso béchamel. Rice and noodle dishes provide another direction, while the dessert selection includes pumpkin cake with Palo Cortado and a homemade cream-and-egg flan. These examples are a useful guide to the kitchen, with current availability best checked when booking. Albalá works particularly well as a dining stop around a visit to the equestrian school or the northern edge of central Jerez. Reserve directly through the restaurant and discuss dietary requirements and the day's service before setting out.

Calle Ramón de Cala, 13, 11403 Jerez de la Frontera

Atuvera is a gastro-tavern beside the Lola Flores monument in Jerez's San Miguel neighbourhood. Its name pays tribute to the singer, and the setting is part of the appeal: the restaurant describes its home as former sixteenth-century stables in a protected building. The result is a place where a meal connects with the city's musical and architectural character without taking the form of a formal heritage visit. The cooking travels beyond a strictly traditional tapas menu. Published dishes include lamb skewers with spiced couscous and a squid-filled mollete with Manzanilla sherry aioli. A cold selection includes a couscous salad with peach vinaigrette. These combinations show how the kitchen places local ingredients and wines alongside influences from farther afield, rather than limiting the table to one familiar regional repertoire. Sherry remains a strong local thread. The region's wine council lists Atuvera as a place to explore styles including Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso and Palo Cortado, and records mussels with Thai-style vinaigrette among its food pairings. Ask the team about the wines and dishes available during your visit instead of assuming a particular pairing is permanent. The informal format suits visitors exploring San Miguel who want an evening centred on several flavours and conversation. Book through the restaurant's own reservation link and confirm service times directly. The restaurant is associated with Apartamentos Jerez, with its own table-reservation service for diners exploring the neighbourhood.

Calle Consistorio, 12, 11403 Jerez de la Frontera

+34956320266

Albores sits on Calle Consistorio in central Jerez de la Frontera, where it offers a market-led approach to Spanish cooking. The address places it among the historic centre's dining streets, making it a practical choice when a day of sightseeing leads into lunch or dinner. Its focus is broad enough for a mixed table: the regional tourism authority describes a kitchen built around vegetables, fish from the Bay of Cádiz and Spanish meats. The restaurant combines traditional foundations with international influences, so its identity comes from the ingredients and their preparation rather than a narrowly fixed style. Fish provides a particularly relevant connection with nearby Cádiz, while seasonal vegetables and meat dishes offer alternatives for guests who prefer a different direction. Ask about the day's selection to see how that market approach is expressed during your visit. The setting is described by the regional tourism authority as contemporary, and the restaurant offers special group menus and event spaces. Those arrangements can be useful for a shared occasion in the city, but should be discussed directly so the table size and dining format are clear before arrival. An ordinary meal and a prearranged group menu are different options. For travellers staying in Jerez, Albores offers a central restaurant choice that connects the city's urban setting with the wider region's produce. Use the published telephone or email to confirm the current menu, service hours and any dietary needs; online third-party schedules differ, so they should not determine your plans alone.

Calle Consistorio, 16, Plaza de la Yerba, 11403 Jerez de la Frontera

+34956324535

La Cruz Blanca occupies a traditional Jerez house beside Plaza de la Yerba, with indoor dining rooms and a spacious terrace. Its Calle Consistorio address makes it a natural stop during a visit to the historic centre. The restaurant combines familiar Andalusian cooking with more contemporary tapas, allowing a meal to stay focused on regional flavours without requiring everyone at the table to order in the same way. The menu moves from small plates to fuller courses. Sherry vinegar appears with clams, Oloroso flavours beef meatballs, and local berza offers a hearty contrast to the fish and shellfish dishes. Garlic prawns, fried squid and seafood paella provide clear choices for guests drawn to the coast's cooking. A selection of cured cheeses and Iberian ham suits a shared opening to the meal. The surroundings and the menu give this restaurant two useful roles: a place for a relaxed series of tapas, or a longer lunch with individual main courses. Jerez wines are prominent in the cellar, offering an opportunity to explore pairings alongside ingredients and sauces that already reflect the region. Reservations are available through the restaurant's own website or telephone. Guests bringing a dog should request an outdoor high table and mention their pet when booking, following the restaurant's stated terrace policy. Confirm the current service times and any dietary requirements directly before visiting.

Ristorante Mont Néry is the restaurant of the Villa Fridau residence in Gressoney-Saint-Jean. Its name goes back to the Locanda Mont Néry, which the family's great-uncles Erwin and Pina Monterin ran in the village in the 1950s. Today Marysa looks after the dining room and chef Boris Melon runs the kitchen. The cooking is Aosta Valley and Piedmontese, built on produce from close by: the valley's cured meats and cheeses, fresh pasta made in the house with a choice of sauces, and game served with polenta. The ice cream is homemade, in flavors that follow the season, and Boris and Marysa are glad to suggest a bottle from the wine list.

Castore & Polluce stands on Piazza Tache, the square at the heart of Gressoney-La-Trinité, and is open from eight in the morning until late at night. The day starts with espresso and homemade cakes; later the kitchen serves modern dishes made from local produce, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices. There are three places to sit: the terrace on the square, the Castore room - an alpine lounge around the bar - and the quieter Polluce room, where the wine is kept. An AIS-certified sommelier looks after around 250 labels and leads tastings, and in the ski season the day ends with after-ski sets from a DJ.

FZRY - short for FitzRoy - is at Tschaval, where the road ends at the head of the Gressoney valley and Monte Rosa fills the view. A young team runs the bar and restaurant, which has a fireplace and two dining rooms that mix old alpine wood with a modern look. The kitchen reworks Aosta Valley classics with produce from nearby: fassone beef fillet with lime and pink pepper, beef cooked slowly and served with tuna sauce, fresh tagliolini with artichokes and guanciale, or cheek braised in Torrette red wine and served with polenta and glazed shallots. The menu changes with the seasons, and the bar pours cocktails and wines from many regions. Tables can be booked online, by phone or on WhatsApp.

Morgenrot is a chalet restaurant in the meadows of Bedemie above Gressoney-La-Trinité, run by its owner, Giorgio. The kitchen keeps to the Aosta Valley: fondue chinoise, polenta concia rich with melted cheese, and zuppa alla valpellinentze, the local soup of bread, cabbage and fontina baked in the oven. The wine list stays close to home too, with labels from the Aosta Valley and Piedmont. In winter the chalet sits in deep snow and is reached on skis during the day. For dinner a snowcat picks guests up and brings them back down again, which turns an evening meal into a small expedition. In summer it is a walk across green pastures.

In winter skiers stop on the snow terrace facing the Monte Rosa massif; in summer hikers come up on the trail from Stafal or ride the lifts via Sant'Anna. The hut is large and spread over two floors. The menu mixes Aosta Valley and Piedmontese dishes with pizza, sandwiches and toasts for a quick stop between runs, the cellar holds a good range of wines, and the bar serves beer, coffee and hot chocolate. Run by the Comola family's company, it works as two places in one. At lunchtime it is a self-service with quick dishes, hot sandwiches and Aosta Valley plates for skiers and hikers; in the evening it becomes a restaurant with regional cooking, and on Saturdays in season a high-altitude dinner with a snowcat ride up after the lifts have closed. Route de l’Allex 2, 1880 Bex

La Colonne is an Italian restaurant and pizzeria on Route de l'Allex in Bex. Mia and Orhan reopened this established family address in August 2025, bringing a new team to a house whose restaurant history stretches back to 1972. The dining room, bright veranda and terrace offer different settings for the same homemade Italian cooking. Pizza is a central part of the menu. The dough is made in-house and given a slow rise, with fresh toppings and careful baking. Beyond pizza, the kitchen prepares homemade tagliatelle, potato gnocchi and ravioli filled with ricotta. These dishes make it possible to choose a full pasta meal even when other people at the table have come specifically for pizza. The menu follows the seasons and market produce. One of the restaurant's own examples is wild-boar meatballs in tomato sauce during the game season. A changing lunchtime menu provides another option alongside the regular selection. Ask what is available that day rather than expecting seasonal dishes to remain on the card throughout the year. The terrace has a wood-burning stove, while the bar provides a place for an Italian coffee or an aperitif. La Colonne can also be booked for private occasions. It opens later on Mondays than on the rest of its working week and closes on Sundays. Telephone for a table, current food-service times or arrangements for a family celebration, and mention any dietary requirements when booking.

Grotto 04 is a family restaurant, pizzeria and wine bar in the centre of Bex. Its menu combines Mediterranean and Italian cooking with several Kosovar specialities. The restaurant has operated since 2001 and gives local ingredients a specific role: pizza flour is produced with a Vaud farmer, vegetables come from the market and the meat is Swiss. Pizzas range from a simple Margherita to combinations using vegetables, seafood or Kosovar beef sausage. The menu also offers linguine, risotto, hand-cut beef tartare, perch fillets and burgers. Kosovar-style chicken and a wine-based meat fondue are dishes to arrange in advance for at least two people. Risotto is cooked to order, so allow a little extra time if that is your choice. There are separate options for younger guests, including pasta, small pizzas and meat dishes. Gluten-free pasta can be requested, but allergies should still be discussed with the staff before ordering. The venue is on one level and has an outdoor terrace for summer meals, making it practical for different kinds of groups. The wine bar is another distinctive part of Grotto 04, with more than 300 references and a strong emphasis on Swiss wines. Bottles can be enjoyed here or bought to take away. A small private dining room overlooking the kitchen is available by arrangement. The restaurant closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; reserve directly for a special dish, a group meal or a busy evening.

The Hôtel de Ville on Rue Centrale is a restaurant in the centre of Bex; despite its name, it does not offer hotel rooms. Its cooking draws on Italian and Swiss traditions, with a shaded terrace behind the dining room and additional rooms for private occasions. It works for a meal in town when your group wants a wider choice than pizza alone. The Italian side of the menu includes homemade lasagne, aubergine parmigiana, spaghetti with clams and morel risotto. Swiss dishes include Bernese rösti with bacon and egg, Tomme Vaudoise with seasonal salad and cheese fondue from Moléson. This combination allows diners to choose between pasta and local cheese-based dishes at the same table. Fish and meat broaden the selection further, from perch fillets and sea bream to beef tartare, duck breast and a house burger. A wine-based meat fondue is available by reservation for at least two people. For dessert, the restaurant lists Italian favourites such as tiramisu and Sicilian ricotta cannoli, alongside crème brûlée and chocolate cake. The kitchen prepares dishes to order and offers smaller discovery portions for children under twelve. A changing dish of the day is served from Tuesday to Friday. Ordinary service runs Tuesday to Saturday, with separate daytime and evening kitchen sessions. Sunday and Monday openings can be arranged for groups of at least fifteen. La Palta stands in Bilegno, a hamlet so small that the restaurant describes itself as a hidden gem behind uneven walls — set among gentle hills, kitchen gardens and old houses in the province of Piacenza. The building gives nothing away from the road, which is part of how the place presents itself. The cooking is ambitious rather than rustic, and the house says so in its own words: the eyes come before the nose and the palate. Unexpected combinations are the method. Two dishes stand for the range — tortelli con la coda, the tailed parcels that are the signature pasta of Piacenza and are folded here in the traditional way, and black ravioli served in an exotic broth that belongs to no local tradition at all. The kitchen is run by a female chef, and the house describes eating here as travelling between the smells of home and inspirations from far away. Gift vouchers for a lunch or dinner are sold through the restaurant's own site. Service runs Tuesday to Saturday, lunch from half past twelve to half past two and dinner from eight to ten. On Sunday there is lunch only, and Monday it is closed. Booking is advisable: the room is small and the restaurant draws people from well beyond the province. You will find La Palta at Frazione Bilegno 67, 29011 Bilegno, Piacenza.

Antica trattoria Del Tempio stands on Via Creta in Vicobarone, a hamlet of Ziano Piacentino in the Val Tidone. The name is the owners' own and says what kind of house it is: a trattoria, and an old one — the everyday restaurant of an Italian village rather than a destination built for visitors. The opening hours describe how it is used. Lunch is served every day except Wednesday, from midday to half past two. Dinner exists on Friday and Saturday only, from eight to ten. A kitchen arranged that way is cooking for people who eat their main meal in the middle of the day, which in this part of Emilia is still most of them, and it means a visitor planning an evening here on a Tuesday will find it closed. Vicobarone sits in the Colli Piacentini, the wine hills between the Po plain and the Apennine ridge. The province is known for three cured meats with protected status — coppa, pancetta and salame piacentino — and for Gutturnio, the red grown on these slopes. Ziano Piacentino is one of the centres of that production, and Vicobarone is one of its hamlets. We hold no website for this trattoria, so nothing is described here about its cooking. The telephone is the way to ask, and to book. You will find it at Via Creta 6, 29010 Vicobarone, Ziano Piacentino.

Auberge de Pont-de-Nant sits at 1,253 metres at the entrance to the Vallon de Nant, beneath the Grand Muveran. The mountain setting is central to a visit: the inn is a stop on the Tour des Muverans, and the La Thomasia alpine botanical garden is around 100 metres away. Jordi, Maddy-Ann and Marco lead the current team. The kitchen follows the seasons. Its autumn menu includes venison with homemade spätzli, wild-boar parmentier and trout from Vionnaz that is marinated and smoked in-house. A mushroom small-spelt risotto provides a vegetable-focused alternative, while cheese fondue comes with several possible variations. Children have a smaller chalet macaroni dish. These are seasonal examples, so consult the current card before a special journey. Desserts continue the regional and autumn themes, with roasted figs, a raisinée cheesecake and a chocolate dessert with chestnut mousse. A shared hunter's caquelon is offered for at least two people. Reserve a table in advance, since the inn specifically warns that availability is limited during its autumn service. Access needs planning in winter. In summer the road reaches the inn and public parking is available. From roughly November to April, the last two kilometres close to vehicles; guests continue from Les Plans-sur-Bex on foot or with appropriate winter equipment, depending on conditions. Check the current route and opening dates directly, including the scheduled November closure. This is a destination meal in the mountains rather than a town-centre restaurant.

The dining room is old stone with a fireplace and candles; in summer the tables move out under the porticoes, and there is a play area for children, which makes it an easy Sunday lunch for families. The food is Piacenza cooking without shortcuts: house cured meats, gnocco fritto, tortelli and pisarei made in the kitchen, roasts, and the Gutturnio of the hills to drink. It opens Wednesday to Sunday, lunch and dinner except Sunday evening; there are rooms and apartments for anyone who wants to stay after the wine.
