Nativo Las Palmas

Moya · Vegetarian · Vegan · Takes reservations

Carretera la Costa 48, 35413 Moya

+34928472549

Mon–Sun 09:00–23:00

Nativo Las Palmas brings internationally influenced cooking to the northern coast of Gran Canaria, in the municipality of Moya. Its setting is Casa Jacío, a restored house dating from 1902 with views towards the bay. The restaurant occupies the former horse stables, where thick stone walls connect the present dining space with the building’s earlier life. Balinese inspired design and a swimming pool give the property a different character from a conventional village restaurant. The kitchen combines traditional ideas with contemporary influences gathered through travel. Seasonal ingredients and local sourcing guide the approach where possible, while the selection includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Drinks range from regional wines to fresh juices and smoothies, alongside cocktails that reinterpret familiar classics. The brunch menu brings together several distinct preparations. A yoghurt and passion fruit bowl comes with strawberries flambéed in orange liqueur, while another bowl combines fresh cheese, avocado, cherry tomatoes and basil with a Japanese dressing. Bread choices include focaccia with slowly cooked roast beef, onion, grapes and red pepper jam, or a soft roll with black olive aioli, avocado, tomato and potato omelette. A vegan version replaces the omelette with a plant based alternative. Sweet dishes include Swiss bread torrija and a small apple cake with pistachio. Nativo also hosts concerts, DJ sessions and yoga brunch events, and welcomes enquiries about private celebrations. Pets are welcome throughout the restaurant and pool space. Tables can be reserved directly with the venue.

Bar Santana

Carretera de Cambalud 1, 35432 Firgas

+34928623751

Mon–Fri 10:00–16:00, 19:00–00:00; Sat–Sun 10:00–00:00

Bar Santana stands on Carretera de Cambalud in the municipality of Firgas, offering traditional Spanish food, regional dishes and a straightforward cafe and bar service. Fish and squid are among the kitchen's highlighted choices, while the broader offer also includes quick meals and breakfast. Coffee provides a simpler reason to stop when a full meal is not needed. The restaurant accepts table reservations by telephone and prepares food to take away, so visitors can choose between eating there and bringing a meal back with them. Free Wi-Fi is available during a visit. Payment options include cash, contactless transactions and several major credit and debit cards. These practical details make it possible to plan a stop without needing a formal dining occasion. Cambalud belongs to Firgas, a municipality whose cooking draws on its agricultural and livestock traditions. Watercress, potatoes, vegetables, local cheese and meat all form part of that wider food culture. The town is also associated with mineral water and with gofio, the flour made from roasted grain that appears in Canarian cooking. The surrounding villages give visitors several reasons to explore this part of northern Gran Canaria. For guests staying around Moya, the bar offers a nearby option centred on familiar Spanish food and direct contact with the restaurant. Breakfast, coffee, cooked dishes and takeaway give visitors several ways to plan a stop.

Restaurante Azafrán

Firgas · Mediterranean · Steak and grill · Fish and seafood

Calle José Santos 2, 35430 Firgas

+34928476757

Azafrán brings Mediterranean cooking with Canarian roots to Calle José Santos in Firgas. Chef José Soto leads the kitchen, drawing on more than twenty years of experience and an interest in giving familiar regional flavours a contemporary presentation. Local ingredients, traditional recipes and modern technique form the basis of the food, with dishes moving between meat, seafood and vegetables. The starters include roasted burrata with confit tomato, rocket, balsamic dressing and pine nuts, and octopus with potatoes and smoked paprika mayonnaise. Another option pairs puff pastry with salmon curry and grilled asparagus. Beef tartare is cut by hand and prepared at the table, while beef cheek and foie croquettes come with green apple and ginger. Rice dishes provide several possible centres for a meal: one uses scarlet prawns and a concentrated seafood stock, another combines the day's fish with squid and mussels, and a creamy version brings together Iberian pork and roasted peppers. The main courses also include beef cheek with mushrooms and saffron potatoes, veal ragù cannelloni and the chef's version of traditional meatballs. Grilled sea bass with butter, lemon and capers sits alongside beef fillet and Iberian pork cuts. Desserts range from tiramisu and cheesecake to cream filled crêpes and profiteroles with vanilla foam and hot chocolate. The restaurant takes table reservations, making it a possible stop for visitors who want to arrange a meal in Firgas before setting out from Moya.

Wed 18:00–23:00; Thu 13:00–23:00; Fri–Sat 13:00–02:00; Sun 13:00–23:00

Emblemática Rooftop is an outdoor restaurant on Calle Párroco Morales in the centre of Arucas, with views towards the Church of San Juan Bautista. The setting gives the meal a close connection to the town's most recognisable landmark, while the kitchen brings Canarian references together with seafood, rice and grilled meat. Chef Alberto Aparicio's version of papas arrugadas is one of the signature dishes: the potatoes are filled with red mojo, green mojo and mango mojo, giving a familiar island preparation several different flavours. A dry black rice dish combines squid and prawns with an aioli flavoured with aromatic herbs. For meat, the restaurant highlights a Uruguayan Angus ribeye cooked over the embers in its Pujadas Grill oven. These three dishes show the range of the cooking, from a local potato speciality to seafood rice and a substantial grilled cut. The terrace is also offered for private celebrations, with an events dossier available for people arranging a special gathering. Table reservations can be made directly with the restaurant. The address is in the historic centre, where the surrounding streets provide an opportunity to explore Arucas before or after eating. Nearby attractions include Plaza de San Juan, the Casa de la Cultura and the municipal park. For visitors based near Moya, the rooftop combines a restaurant visit with time in another northern Gran Canaria town, with the church view giving the terrace its particular sense of place.

Restaurante Casa Brito

Arucas · Steak and grill · Fish and seafood · Seating indoors

Pasaje Ter 17, 35412 Arucas

+34928622323

Wed–Thu 13:00–17:00, 20:00–23:00; Fri–Sat 13:00–17:00, 20:00–23:30; Sun 12:30–17:00

Casa Brito occupies Pasaje Ter in Visvique, in the municipality of Arucas. José González Brito opened the restaurant at the end of 1998, giving it a rustic interior with timber beams, exposed brick and two dining areas. There is also a separate bar where Iberian ham and island cheeses feature. A wood fired grill in the main dining room is central to the kitchen. The meat selection ranges from Galician beef and Simmental cuts to Angus from Uruguay or Argentina and Wagyu from Japan or Chile. Iberian pork appears as secreto, presa and pluma, alongside cheeks cooked in their own juices. Lamb chops and slowly cooked shoulders broaden the choice beyond beef. The rest of the menu gives a table plenty to share before the main course. Starters include island cheeses from small producers, house croquettes, octopus in tempura and a spiced lamb pastry with orange honey. Vegetables grilled with black truffle oil sit beside salads with avocado, watercress or tuna belly. Fish dishes include wreckfish with coriander sauce and prawns, cod in Biscayan sauce and grilled salmon with mustard and dill. For dessert, the restaurant highlights burnt rice pudding and homemade guava ice cream. The dining rooms are air conditioned, and the house lists parking, Wi-Fi, card payment and a private room among its facilities. Reservation requests are accepted, with confirmation dependent on available space; the restaurant advises allowing up to a day for a reply. It is a restaurant to consider when a meal built around grilled meat is the main purpose of the outing.

Palm Oasis Restaurant

Calle Albert Einstein, s/n, Parcela 34, 35100 Maspalomas

+34928140400

Palm Oasis Restaurant is reserved for guests staying at Palm Oasis Maspalomas, because access to the hotel is limited to its residents. It is the property's own dining option, set within a resort of gardens, coconut trees and palms on a small hill in southern Gran Canaria. For guests already staying here, it offers a convenient way to include restaurant meals in a holiday based around an apartment. The main daily services are buffet breakfast and buffet dinner. The published breakfast window runs from 8am to 10am, with dinner from 6.30pm to 10pm. Live cooking and themed evenings give the restaurant a changing rhythm over the week. Tuesday is advertised as Canary Night, while Friday brings a barbecue theme, so different evenings can offer a different focus within the same hotel. Sunday has its own daytime feature: a paella show from noon. This is worth checking with reception when planning a day around the pool or an excursion, as the current programme determines what is taking place during a particular stay. The hotel also has a separate pool bar and Pub Oasis, offering guests other places for a drink without leaving the grounds. Ask the hotel which meals are included in your booking and which require a separate arrangement, especially if your apartment stay is organised through another provider. Reception can also confirm the week's programme, service times and dietary requirements. These practical details help guests choose between the restaurant's buffet evenings, a themed event and the flexibility of their apartment kitchen.

Sawadee is one of three Thai restaurants of the same name in the south of Gran Canaria - the others are in Meloneras and San Agustín. This one is on Avenida de Gran Canaria in Playa del Inglés. Thai chefs cook in the style of Isaan, the north-east of Thailand: simple, strong flavors from fresh herbs, lime and fish sauce, with little sugar or butter. Pad thai, green curry (gaeng kiew waan) and pineapple fried rice are among the favorites, and a house platter brings several dishes together. The terrace is colorful and relaxed, the bar mixes cocktails, and everything on the menu can also be taken away.

Greek Village has been cooking Greek food in the Santa Clara area of Playa del Inglés for more than twenty years. It grew out of a Greek taverna in San Agustín and brought the same recipes a few kilometers along the coast. The menu is the classic taverna one: gyros, kleftiko - lamb roasted slowly until it falls off the bone - moussaka and grilled meats, with feta, Greek yogurt and Kalamata olives alongside, and a list of Greek wines to go with them. There is a children's menu. On weekdays the kitchen opens in the evening, at weekends from lunchtime; tables can be booked online at any hour, or by phone while the restaurant is open.

El Chuletón is a grill on Avenida Sargentos Provisionales in Playa del Inglés, and its name says what matters most: a chuletón is a thick, bone-in rib steak cut for the grill. Meat comes first on the menu, with fish, pizza and pasta for anyone at the table who wants something else. The kitchen stays open for a long day - from late morning until well after midnight - which makes it an easy choice after an afternoon on the beach or before a night out in Playa del Inglés.

The menu is long on pizza, made with carefully chosen ingredients, and there are sandwiches and hot dogs as well. It is a practical address for an evening at the apartment: the pizzas can be eaten in, taken away or delivered. Buffet Las Camelias on Avenida de Tirajana has been feeding Playa del Inglés for more than fifty years, and it does so on a grand scale: an all-you-can-eat buffet of over 300 Canarian, Spanish and international dishes. Much of it is cooked in front of you. At the show-cooking stations guests choose their ingredients and watch them go onto the grill, and around them are stations for grilled fish and seafood, freshly cooked shellfish, paella, Iberian cold cuts and cheeses, Italian and Tex-Mex dishes, grilled meats, homemade desserts and soft-serve ice cream. Calle la Parábola 3, 35627 Costa Calma

kapé is a small coffee house tucked behind the shopping area of Costa Calma that does something no one else on the island does: it serves only coffee grown on Fuerteventura, roasted on the premises. On roasting days you can watch and ask, and the espresso, cappuccino and cold brew that come out of it are the reason people from other resorts drive over. It is also the breakfast place of Costa Calma - you put your own plate together from a list of small dishes, German and Spanish side by side, with waffles, cheesecake and croissants for the sweet half of the table, and tapas, sandwiches and burgers later on. Open weekdays only, nine to five, so plan it for a weekday morning.

Restaurante Costa Beach is on Calle Roque del Morro in Costa Calma. It keeps no website, so nothing is written here about what it serves; the telephone number is the way to ask. The hours are the useful part. It opens at half past ten in the morning and closes at half past ten at night, every day of the week, without a closing day and without the afternoon break that most Spanish kitchens take. Twelve hours straight through covers a late breakfast, a lunch at three, and a dinner — and on this coast the middle of that is the hard slot to fill. Roque del Morro is one of the streets running through the town between the FV-2 coast road and the beach. Costa Calma is laid out as a resort rather than as a village: it grew from nothing in the 1980s along the Playa de Sotavento, and the streets are named after the rocks and points of the peninsula. The town sits at the narrowest part of Fuerteventura, where the island is barely five kilometres across, with the Atlantic on both sides and the wind coming over from the east almost every day. That wind is the reason the beach here is famous and the reason an inland street can be a good deal more comfortable to eat in than the front, particularly in the afternoon. You will find Restaurante Costa Beach on Calle Roque del Morro, 35627 Costa Calma.

El Bar de Marko stands on Calle Risco Blanco in Costa Calma, and by review count it is the best-known place to eat in the town. It keeps no website, so nothing here describes the kitchen — we can point at no source for it, and a guess would be worse than silence. What can be said is the shape of its week, and it is a simple one: half past twelve to ten at night, every day, with no closing day and no break between lunch and dinner. On a resort coast where a good many kitchens shut for the afternoon and take a day off in the week, a house that never does either is the reliable option — the answer when it is four in the afternoon, or when it is Monday. Calle Risco Blanco is named after the white cliff, which is what risco blanco means, and it runs back from the beach road into the town rather than along the front. Costa Calma lies at the neck of the Jandía peninsula in southern Fuerteventura, about an hour from the airport at Puerto del Rosario and twenty minutes from Morro Jable. The telephone is the way to ask what is on and to book. You will find El Bar de Marko on Calle Risco Blanco, 35627 Costa Calma.

Rapa Nui is a surf bar on Punta los Molinillos in Costa Calma, and it is more than a place to eat: alongside the food and drink it runs a surf school and Segway excursions, and publishes a weekly programme of what is on. That combination is the point of it — the bar is the meeting place for the school rather than a restaurant that happens to have boards outside. It is open from nine in the morning until midnight, every day of the week, which covers breakfast before a lesson and a drink long after one. The setting explains the business. Costa Calma sits on the Jandía peninsula in the far south of Fuerteventura, on the Playa de Sotavento — a stretch of white sand and shallow lagoon several kilometres long. The trade winds blow across it almost without pause, which is why this coast is one of the best-known windsurfing and kitesurfing places in Europe and why a surf school sits on the beach road rather than in the town. Rapa Nui is the Polynesian name for Easter Island, which is an odd flag to plant in the Atlantic and tells you the register the bar is going for. The weekly programme is the thing to look at before arriving: what happens here changes by the day, and turning up on the wrong one means a quiet bar rather than the place the reviews describe. You will find Rapa Nui at Punta los Molinillos, 35628 Costa Calma.

Steak House San Borondón stands on Calle L.T.U. in Costa Calma. It keeps no website, so what it serves beyond the steak in its name is not described here. The name is worth knowing, because it is not a family name. San Borondón is the phantom eighth island of the Canaries — a landmass that generations of islanders reported seeing on the western horizon, that appeared on Spanish charts for three centuries, and that several expeditions sailed out to find and never did. It is now understood to have been a mirage. Naming a restaurant after it is a local joke of a particular kind. The hours differ at the weekend, which is the practical thing to note. Monday to Saturday it opens at one in the afternoon and runs to eleven at night, straight through. On Sunday it opens only at five in the evening and closes at half past ten — so there is no Sunday lunch here. A steak house is a reasonable thing to find here rather than an incongruous one. Fuerteventura has almost no agriculture — the island is dry enough that goats are most of what it raises — so meat is shipped in on the same boats as everything else, and a house that makes beef its subject is making a choice rather than using what is to hand. Costa Calma is on the Jandía peninsula in the south of Fuerteventura, and the restaurant is a few minutes from the Playa de Sotavento, the long shallow lagoon beach that the town was built for. You will find Steak House San Borondón on Calle L.T.U., 35627 Costa Calma.

L'AperiPizza is an Italian pizzeria in the Centro Comercial Plaza on Calle Punta Pesebre in Costa Calma, in the municipality of Pájara on Fuerteventura. Its own line for what it does is the best summary anyone could write: quality Italian pizza, because life is too short to eat a bad one. The numbers behind that are unusually good. Ninety-eight per cent of two hundred and forty-seven people recommend it, and the price band is the lowest of the three the island's restaurants are sorted into — a combination that is rare anywhere and rarer on a resort coast. There is seating outdoors and pizza can be collected at the kerb. The hours want reading before you set out. It is closed on Monday and on Tuesday, both. From Wednesday to Sunday it opens at one in the afternoon and runs to half past ten at night without a break. Two closing days in a row is unusual here and catches people out at the start of a week's holiday. Costa Calma sits at the neck of the Jandía peninsula in the south of Fuerteventura, where the island narrows to a few kilometres between two coasts. The Centro Comercial Plaza is one of the small shopping centres set back from the beach road, so this is an address to walk to from the town rather than one you pass on the front — worth knowing, because it is easy to miss from the FV-2. You will find L'AperiPizza at Calle Punta Pesebre, Centro Comercial Plaza, Local D2, 35627 Costa Calma.

Restaurante La Tegala

Mácher · Fish and seafood · Lunch · Dinner

Carretera Mácher 60, 35572 Mácher

+34659099874

La Tegala is chef and owner Daniel Jiménez's interpretation of Canarian cooking in Mácher. The restaurant builds its identity around the archipelago's producers, volcanic landscapes and Atlantic ingredients, bringing traditional recipes into a contemporary tasting menu format. Jiménez works with head chef Loren Layos, while maître Sergio Mulas and sommelier Alessandra Cavallaro guide the dining room and wine service. The kitchen combines local produce with techniques and seasonings from further afield. Its menus range from the more extensive Maresía to La Tegala and La Tegala 2.0, alongside the more informal Ventorrillo selection. Across these menus, island cheeses, goat, rabbit, seafood and vegetables appear in combinations that connect familiar ingredients with unexpected textures. Examples include octopus with aubergine and a Japanese and Canarian barbecue treatment, sea bass with mango and beetroot, and grilled wreckfish with coconut soup, roasted corn and sweet potato. Rabbit in salmorejo is accompanied by vegetables and goat yogurt, while a goat taco uses a corn and charcoal shell. The Maresía sequence explores goat through several preparations as well as moray, shellfish and fish. Sweet courses include coriander sorbet with white chocolate and mango, and crème brûlée with tonka bean, sweet potato and palm honey. Wine pairings draw on small Canarian wineries and volcanic wines. The dining team explains the origins and ideas behind the dishes as the meal progresses. Tables can be requested through the restaurant's online reservation service or by telephone.

Restaurante La Cascada

Puerto del Carmen · Spanish · Steak and grill · Burgers

Calle Roque Nublo 5, 35510 Puerto del Carmen

+34928512953

La Cascada occupies a Canarian house on Calle Roque Nublo in Puerto del Carmen, with several dining spaces gathered around one restaurant. Its cooking combines Spanish and international influences, with grilled meat as a particular speciality and local seasonal ingredients central to the kitchen's approach. Cristóbal Sánchez leads the family business, drawing on more than two decades of hospitality experience. Behind the dining room and kitchen is a larger team covering purchasing, stores, fish preparation and butchery. The restaurant presents its main Cascada room as a bright space behind large windows, serving international cooking with references to the Canary Islands. La Bodega preserves the character of the original house, including an old well and barrels, and focuses on popular cooking. It accommodates up to eighty guests, with two smaller rooms for twenty offering a more intimate setting. A further Street Food area brings together handmade burgers and dishes inspired by international travel, with vintage decoration and room for fifty diners. These different spaces give the restaurant scope for ordinary meals, family gatherings and larger celebrations within the same address. Group and event enquiries are handled directly with the team. Reservations are accepted for parties of eight or more; smaller parties are welcomed in order of arrival. The kitchen describes its work as a combination of traditional cooking and contemporary methods, supported by modern equipment for precise preparation. The result is a restaurant with a strong grill identity and several ways to gather around the table.

Avenida Olof Palme s/n, Marina Lanzarote, local B-29, 35500 Arrecife

+34928524978

Lilium looks over Marina Lanzarote in Arrecife, combining a dining room and terrace with a kitchen devoted to contemporary Canarian food. Orlando Ortega and Sandra Guadalupe founded the restaurant in 2006, with Orlando leading the cooking and Sandra directing the dining room. Vegetables and fruit grown in volcanic soil, fish and shellfish from the islands' coasts, and selected meats provide the starting point. The kitchen draws on familiar island recipes while changing their presentation and combinations. Guests can choose between two tasting menus and a menu in which each diner selects a starter, main course and dessert. The longer Bruno sequence includes banana croquette, asparagus with scarlet prawn and apple, a fish sandwich, roast avocado, octopus with boiled mojo, fish and rabbit before dessert. Laura offers a shorter route through several of those ingredients. The selectable menu includes coastal noodles with Lanzarote scarlet prawns, stuffed rabbit leg with sweet black pudding and apple, and aged beef with almogrote and roasted pepper. Desserts continue the island theme with quesillo, gofio ice cream and tropical fruit. The tasting menus are served without substitutions; diners with allergies, intolerances or dietary restrictions are directed toward the selectable menu, where adaptations are easier. Alongside its cooking, the restaurant describes practical commitments to local purchasing, recycling, reducing plastics and renewable energy. Its marina setting places the water in view from the terrace, giving the meal a distinct connection to Arrecife's waterfront.

La Isla de Goya combines family roots in Aragón with the ingredients and food traditions of La Palma. Established in May 2015, it stands on Avenida Marítima in Santa Cruz de La Palma, close to the city's distinctive balconies. The approach is informal, with tapas and larger sharing portions that let a table explore several dishes together. Its identity comes from that meeting of mainland and island cooking rather than from a single specialty. Migas Aragonesas bring the shepherding tradition of bread and chorizo to the menu, while grilled island cheese and wrinkled potatoes with mojo give the selection a Canarian accent. Small plates include padrón peppers, shrimp fritters and piquillo peppers filled with marinated tuna. There are cheese and Iberian ham boards, alongside a substantial range of topped toasts. One combines aubergine, courgette, tomato and grilled smoked Palmero cheese with hazelnut and basil pesto; another pairs local fresh cheese and grilled vegetables with smoked salmon and toasted almonds. Seafood continues through the casserole and sharing sections, with clams, mussels, prawns and small fried fish. Meatballs with mushrooms, cuttlefish and prawns bring land and sea together in one dish. Vegetable choices include a grilled vegetable platter and a warm salad with curry vegetables and chia seeds. Eggs appear in several combinations with potatoes, vegetables, ham or chorizo. A separate children's menu offers smaller, straightforward meals. The restaurant encourages guests to ask for recommendations, and its menu is available in Spanish, English and German. It is a useful address for companions who enjoy ordering collectively and comparing different regional flavors.

Placeta de Borrero 1, 38700 Santa Cruz de La Palma

+34922415273

La Placeta occupies a traditional Canarian house beside Placeta de Borrero in central Santa Cruz de La Palma. Its entrance faces the small square, while the back belongs to the city's familiar waterfront balconies. The building brings together a terrace, an indoor bistro and restaurant rooms, giving visitors several ways to enjoy the same address. There is also a private room for company meals and celebrations. David Leiva Ruiz, originally from Valls in Tarragona, has directed the business since August 2007. His approach combines carefully chosen ingredients with attentive service, whether guests order a sandwich, share tapas or settle down for a larger meal. The terrace has its own selection of sandwiches, tapas and cakes, and diners can also choose meat, fish and vegetarian dishes from the restaurant menu. Inside the bistro, original walls and ceilings remain part of the setting. A wooden counter, stools, small tables and photographs of historic Santa Cruz give this room a different character from the open square. Two tables stand beside the windows, and the coffee selection includes the local coffee drink with liqueur. Among the restaurant's featured dishes are salmon and avocado tartare and beef tenderloin tips in a creamy cognac sauce with mushrooms and fries. A warm chocolate fondant served with ice cream is one of its signature desserts. The kitchen can adapt dishes for food intolerances and allergies. With both lighter food and a full restaurant menu available, La Placeta suits anything from a pause during a walk through town to a planned gathering with friends.

Juan Mayor 42, 38700 Santa Cruz de La Palma

Mon–Sat 12:30–23:00; Sun 12:30–17:30

Chipi Chipi grew from a small neighborhood shop into a restaurant surrounded by plants and flowers in Velhoco, above Santa Cruz de La Palma. The Yanes-Herrera family arrived from Tigalate in the late 1950s and began selling provisions while serving tapas and wine to neighbors. Cards, dominoes, storytelling and music were part of those early gatherings. A popular song performed there supplied the restaurant's name, and the business dates its beginnings to January 1960. As it expanded, a grill, dining room, terrace and individual private dining spaces were added. A later redesign by Palmero artist Luis Morera preserved the original character. Today, grilled meat remains a central part of the menu. Beef chops, pork ribs and chops, chicken, rabbit and kid goat appear alongside sausages and the island's sweet blood sausage. The accompaniments include wrinkled potatoes, fries, red mojo and alioli. Traditional starters such as gofio escaldado, chicharrones, goat cheese and grilled cheese give the meal a distinctly local foundation. Soups include Canarian puchero, chickpea soup and picadillo soup, while cod with onions provides a fish option. Desserts continue the island theme with bienmesabe, Príncipe Alberto, quesillo and gofio mousse, together with homemade cheesecake and lemon cream. The different dining areas accommodate both ordinary meals and more private gatherings. Weddings, baptisms, communions and company dinners are among the occasions the restaurant organizes. Parking includes spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility. Guests with allergies or intolerances are asked to consult the staff about the ingredients in individual dishes, and tables can be reserved by telephone.

Casa Osmunda occupies a traditional house on the ascent towards La Concepción in Breña Alta. Before becoming a restaurant, the building served as a resting place for merchants travelling between Santa Cruz de La Palma and Los Llanos. Its name preserves the memory of Doña Osmunda, the woman who looked after the house. The restaurant opened in May 2007, retaining the hipped roof, porch and interior walls of volcanic stone. Two dining rooms and a terrace offer different settings, while a former water cistern with a vaulted ceiling provides a room for private celebrations. The cooking takes Canarian recipes as its starting point and adds contemporary combinations of ingredients. The menu moves from local cheeses and aubergine with cane syrup to rabbit in salmorejo tucked inside potatoes. Fish dishes include tuna with passion fruit, pumpkin and teriyaki, and the kitchen also offers fresh fish suggestions. Beef ribs, braised pork cheek and beef fillet give the meat section a substantial presence. Tropical fruit appears repeatedly, including in an avocado, prawn and mango preparation dressed with passion fruit. Desserts continue that interest in contrasting flavors, with cheese foam and passion fruit, warm cheesecake, and an avocado and fresh cheese cream with thyme oil and mango. A separate children's selection includes veal escalope and chicken with fries. The wine collection is another part of the house's identity, with staff available to suggest a bottle alongside the chosen dishes.

Carretera General Empalme Dos Pinos, 57, 38750 El Paso

+34922402305

Franchipani stands beside the main road between El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane, near the Urbanización Celta bus stop. Heidy van de Vorst and Rüdiger Wastl opened the restaurant in December 1998, creating a place where Spanish and Mediterranean cooking meets influences gathered further afield. Heidy comes from near Eindhoven and developed her approach in the Netherlands before working with the flavors of Bonaire and Puerto Rico. An intensive cooking course in Thailand added another strand to her experience with spice and unfamiliar ingredients. She arrived on La Palma in the spring of the restaurant's opening year. Her cooking draws on fresh regional produce, including organic vegetables, with an emphasis on the origins of meat and fish. The restaurant presents both a regular menu and changing weekly dishes. Main courses can be ordered in smaller portions, giving guests flexibility in putting together a meal. Rüdiger leads the service and looks after the wines, selecting bottles from small producers and maintaining personal relationships with many of the winemakers. Family wineries on La Palma are central to the selection, joined by reds, whites and rosés from mainland Spain. Staff help guests choose an aperitif, a wine to accompany the food or a drink to finish. The house also invites diners to enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine or beer. A private car park serves guests arriving by road, while the nearby bus stop provides another option for reaching this independently operated restaurant.

Casa Francisco El de Siempre

Paseo Marítimo s/n, 11150 El Palmar de Vejer

+34956232249

Casa Francisco El de Siempre stands beside the beach in El Palmar, with the Atlantic setting the direction of its kitchen. The restaurant describes its cooking through three ideas: produce, proximity and flavor. Familiar coastal dishes share the menu with newer combinations, so a meal can move from fried fish to raw seafood preparations without losing its connection to the surrounding coast. Rice dishes and seafood stews have a prominent place, including paella, creamy rice with scarlet prawns, and noodle dishes with clams. Several of these preparations are intended for at least two people. Bluefin tuna is another focus, with a separate selection covering different cuts and treatments. The menu includes tuna tartare with guacamole, sashimi of the fatty belly, and grilled tuna belly with the day's garnish. Starters range from chilled tomato and almond soups to cured Payoyo cheese with quince and walnuts. There are marinated Barbate sardines, fried anchovies with lemon, and market squid alongside prawns and clams. Vegetables from the gardens of Conil also appear, including a grilled selection offered with a vegan option. The building has several distinct places to sit: a terrace, an area with high tables, and a lookout space. That variety is useful when choosing between a meal centered on shared dishes and a table with the beach as its backdrop. The restaurant accepts reservations online and publishes a telephone contact for booking enquiries.

Casa Juan is a seafront restaurant in El Palmar whose story dates to 1979. Its cooking brings together seafood from the surrounding coast and vegetables from the gardens of Conil and Vejer. The house calls this approach Producto Km0, emphasizing the ingredients of the area while giving traditional dishes contemporary accompaniments. The menu has a substantial bluefin tuna section. Preparations include tartare with truffle or a spicy seasoning, marinated cubes with mango ajoblanco and seaweed croutons, and grilled tarantelo with vegetable couscous and green tomato compote. Tuna ribs cooked in the Josper come with barbecue sauce and potatoes, while another cut is served with pumpkin and orange cream and roasted garlic. Rice is a central part of the offer, particularly black rice with cuttlefish and rice with scarlet prawns. These dishes are made for at least two people and must be ordered in advance. To begin, there are seasonal tomato salads, fried octopus with avocado and mango, fried anchovies with lemon, and squid with black aioli. Prawn meatballs with pine nut and fried garlic sauce provide another sharing option. Beyond seafood, the menu lists grilled Iberian pork, slowly cooked pluma with mushrooms, and beef sirloin with foie. Desserts include baked cheesecake with pears, lemon sorbet, and chocolate in several textures with salted toffee. Bookings use the restaurant's online reservation system; changes to an existing reservation can be discussed by telephone, subject to availability.

El Alférez faces Playa El Palmar from the seafront promenade, with a terrace and a kitchen shaped by the sea. The restaurant connects its food to family tradition while making room for contemporary combinations. Its principal ingredients are local seafood and bluefin tuna caught by the almadraba method, and its signature rice dish features carabineros, the large scarlet prawns associated with this stretch of coast. The main menu provides several ways into a meal. Shared starters include smoked sardines with curd cheese and green tomato jam, artichokes with Payoyo cheese cream and mojama, and croquettes served over Parmesan cream. Soups and stews bring a more substantial side of the cooking: chickpeas with prawns, beans with octopus, and a fish soup with prawns and clams. Rice dishes are prepared for a minimum of two diners. Alongside the scarlet prawn version are black rice with squid and clams, fideuá with shellfish, and mushroom risotto with truffle. Fish from the market depends on availability; the menu also offers grilled squid, baked squid with olive oil, and fish with clams and prawns in the Roteña style. Guests who prefer meat can choose from beef, Iberian pork and chicken dishes. Separate tuna, dessert and wine menus allow the meal to develop in different directions. The house asks diners to tell the staff about allergies or intolerances, and table reservations are accepted through its online booking system.

Camino de Guerrero 273, 11159 El Palmar de Vejer

Casa Isabel sits on Camino de Guerrero in El Palmar, around three hundred meters from the beach. Its cooking is rooted in Cádiz, with fish and shellfish from the bay, almadraba tuna, and Retinto beef from La Janda. The house describes its style as traditional cooking with modern touches, giving the menu a familiar regional foundation without limiting it to a single specialty. Breakfast has its own substantial selection. Diners can choose molletes, seed bread, wholemeal bread or gluten free bread, with toppings that include Iberian ham, aged cheese and avocado. Named combinations range from egg with crushed tomato and olive oil to goat cheese with honey and walnuts. Coffee, herbal teas, fresh juice and filled croissants round out that side of the offer. The main menu moves through shared starters, salads, rice, fried fish, seafood and meat. Octopus appears in several preparations, including Galician style and sautéed with garlic prawns. There are croquettes made with ham, stew ingredients or garlic prawns, alongside clams with sherry and grilled razor clams. Rice choices include black rice, seafood rice, scarlet prawn rice and a vegetable version that requires advance ordering. Retinto steaks and Iberian pork give meat eaters several alternatives, while the wine selection draws on producers across Spain. Takeaway food is available for collection after calling the restaurant. For guests staying nearby, the combination of breakfast dishes and a broad regional menu makes Casa Isabel useful for more than one kind of meal.

Playa de la Fontanilla s/n, 11140 Conil de la Frontera

+34956441130

La Fontanilla stands directly on its namesake beach in Conil de la Frontera, beside the beach car park. The restaurant began in 1964 as a bar serving fishermen returning from the sea, and the Pérez Rubio family remains central to its story. Pedro and Antonio Pérez Rubio continue that tradition, with a kitchen that gives particular attention to the local fishing grounds and their catch. The setting looks over the sand and water, keeping the connection between the dining table and the coast visible throughout a meal. Fish native to the Conil coast and bluefin tuna from the almadrabas of Conil and Barbate are the main attractions. The broader offer includes shellfish, rice dishes, fried fish, vegetables from Conil's market gardens, and Retinto beef. A separate wild bluefin tuna menu explores that ingredient in greater depth, while individual wine and dessert menus complete the selection. The restaurant also publishes suggestions under Fernanda's name, adding another route into the house's cooking. Its history helps explain the emphasis on seafood: what started as a stopping place for working fishermen developed into a beach restaurant whose identity still rests on traditional fishing. For visitors based in El Palmar, it offers a nearby excursion to another part of the same coast, with Conil's produce at the center of the meal. Tables can be requested by telephone. Diners with allergies or food intolerances are asked to speak with the dining room staff for information about the dishes.

Punta Paloma, s/n, 11380 Tarifa

+34951552688

El Mirlo sits beyond the dunes of Punta Paloma, where Tarifa's coast becomes a setting for a meal close to the beach. The restaurant belongs to the Marbella Club dining family, whose presentation places chef Juan Gómez behind its cooking. The appeal begins with the coastal location, then continues through a menu rooted in fish, shellfish and the products of southern Spain. A meal can start with gazpacho, potato salad with tuna belly, grilled octopus or prawns in pil-pil sauce. Fried squid, baby squid and anchovies offer another approach to the sea. Mussels with white wine, clams in marinera sauce and grilled shellfish broaden the choice, while whole fish such as sea bass, sole and turbot are listed according to weight. Almadraba bluefin tuna receives particular attention. The menu includes tiradito with truffle and ponzu, tartare with ajoblanco, tataki with salmorejo and almonds, tuna meatballs in tomato sauce and grilled tuna steak. Rice dishes are prepared for at least two people, with seafood paella and versions built around lobster, carabineros or Ibérico pork. There are also Retinto beef, lamb chops and roast cauliflower with romesco. The breakfast selection gives an earlier reason to visit, with toast accompanied by tomato, Payoyo cheese, ham or avocado. For lunch or dinner, reserve directly and ask about the current fish, rice preparations and service times. A table here is particularly suited to visitors who want a coastal excursion to include a substantial Andalusian meal rather than only a quick beach snack.

Tumbao x BiBo brings Dani García's BiBo cooking to the beach atmosphere of Valdevaqueros. The Tarifa venue combines the names Tumbao and BiBo in its current identity, with a menu that places familiar Andalusian ingredients beside ideas gathered from farther afield. Its coastal setting makes it a natural place to build a meal around a visit to this stretch of sand. The evening menu gives a clear picture of the style. Guacamole starts with Málaga avocado and comes with pico de gallo, coriander and crisp totopos. Filled brioches take a richer direction: one combines chorizo, chipotle and a quail's egg, while another uses oxtail and the kitchen's Bull DG sauce. These are choices for diners who enjoy recognisable ingredients with a playful combination of textures and seasoning. Pizza and burgers give the meal another direction. The margarita uses tomato, fior di latte mozzarella and basil; other pizzas add prosciutto, pepperoni or a mixture of vegetables. Retinto beef features in the Tumbao burger with cheddar, bacon, barbecue sauce and onion. The Bull version instead pairs its beef with Havarti, lettuce and the signature sauce. Because lunch and evening menus are published separately, check the selection for your intended service rather than assuming every dish is available all day. The restaurant's own reservation channel is the best place to confirm a table and current seasonal opening. It is a useful choice for a beach-day meal when the group wants a range of approachable dishes and the distinctive cooking associated with the BiBo name.

Tangana is a beach restaurant at Valdevaqueros, within a small complex of bungalows, gardens and a clothing boutique. The setting belongs to the stretch of Tarifa coast associated with windsurfing and kitesurfing: a place to settle down for food after the beach, with green outdoor space close to the sand. Access is from the N340 near Camping Valdevaqueros. Its menu moves comfortably between substantial beach food and lighter dishes. The Retinto beef burger comes with Emmental, bacon and onion, while a chicken version uses cheddar. Tuna tartare with avocado, an Almadraba tuna poke bowl and a salmon bowl with watermelon, edamame and wakame give seafood a prominent place. A salad combines tuna tataki with rice noodles, mango and peanuts. Other choices travel farther afield, including chicken in Thai yellow curry with jasmine rice, lasagne and pasta filled with pear and cheese. Breakfast has its own selection, served until noon: toast and molletes, yoghurt with fruit and granola, eggs, crêpes and an açaí bowl. This makes Tangana useful for different moments of the day, while the available menu should guide the choice of visiting time. Desserts include lemon cake, carrot cake, blueberry cheesecake and apple crumble, alongside coffee. The food offering is broad enough for a group with different appetites, from a sandwich to a complete meal. El Chozo puts the sea at the centre of a meal on Tarifa's coast. Part of Camping Torre de la Peña, the restaurant looks towards Tarifa and the Strait of Gibraltar from its position beside the ocean. Its story began in 1963 with a simple hut made from wood and straw, giving today's restaurant a connection with the early years of this coastal campsite. The menu offers several ways into the local seafood. Grilled tuna, tuna tartare and caramelised tuna belly sit alongside sea bass with dill oil and whole squid, offered grilled or fried. Daily wild-fish choices depend on the catch. Among the starters are mussels prepared in different styles, a prawn salad with Oloroso sherry and local tomatoes with tuna belly and Jerez vinegar. There is also a substantial choice beyond fish. Rice dishes include a garden-vegetable version, black rice with squid and cuttlefish, and an Ibérico preparation. Meat choices include aged beef, a lamb timbale with mushrooms and Pedro Ximénez, and a burger. For a sweet finish, the published selection includes rice pudding, cheesecake and brioche torrija scented with orange blossom. El Chozo can therefore work for a longer lunch after time by the sea or for dinner with a broad choice of dishes. Service times change between the main summer period, holiday weeks and the rest of the year, so check the restaurant's current timetable when booking. Restaurante Miramar is the restaurant of Hotel Arte Vida, beside Los Lances beach on Tarifa's Atlantic coast. Sea views towards Africa form part of the setting, while the kitchen describes its approach as Mediterranean and international, based on fresh market ingredients. It offers a sit-down meal in the same coastal surroundings that attract visitors for the beach and water sports. Fish and shellfish are central to the menu. Garlic prawns, grilled prawns and clams provide several possible starters, followed by fresh fish whose selection changes with availability. The published card names species such as sea bass, sole, turbot and sea bream, with some whole fish sold by weight. Tuna appears in raw preparations as well as the broader seafood offering, and seafood paella is listed among the day's options. Other dishes make this more than a fish-only destination. Chicken satay and a coconut soup show the international side, while meat choices include beef tartare, beef skewers, Ibérico pork and Galician entrecôte. Vegetarian possibilities include a Laotian-style salad with tofu, gyoza, pesto pasta and leeks with romesco. These give a mixed group several routes through the meal. The restaurant also lists dishes for children and a changing homemade dessert selection. Ask the team about the fresh fish, the day's dessert and any rice dish when reserving, since those choices naturally depend on the service. Atuvera is a gastro-tavern beside the Lola Flores monument in Jerez's San Miguel neighbourhood. Its name pays tribute to the singer, and the setting is part of the appeal: the restaurant describes its home as former sixteenth-century stables in a protected building. The result is a place where a meal connects with the city's musical and architectural character without taking the form of a formal heritage visit. The cooking travels beyond a strictly traditional tapas menu. Published dishes include lamb skewers with spiced couscous and a squid-filled mollete with Manzanilla sherry aioli. A cold selection includes a couscous salad with peach vinaigrette. These combinations show how the kitchen places local ingredients and wines alongside influences from farther afield, rather than limiting the table to one familiar regional repertoire. Sherry remains a strong local thread. The region's wine council lists Atuvera as a place to explore styles including Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso and Palo Cortado, and records mussels with Thai-style vinaigrette among its food pairings. Ask the team about the wines and dishes available during your visit instead of assuming a particular pairing is permanent. The informal format suits visitors exploring San Miguel who want an evening centred on several flavours and conversation. Book through the restaurant's own reservation link and confirm service times directly. The restaurant is associated with Apartamentos Jerez, with its own table-reservation service for diners exploring the neighbourhood.
