Restaurant La Grotte

Trans-en-Provence · Burgers · Fish and seafood · Ice cream

Place des Moulins, 83720 Trans-en-Provence

+33494708759

Restaurant La Grotte brings a seasonal restaurant into a natural cave on Place des Moulins in Trans-en-Provence. Chantal and Philippe welcome guests with their team, while chef Philippe Funel develops a menu that changes roughly every three months. The setting gives the meal a distinctive character: a cave dining room rather than a conventional streetfront restaurant, suited to a shared celebration or a meal for two. The autumn selection combines familiar French ingredients with pasta, seafood and carefully assembled sauces. Starters include sea bream ceviche with coconut, vanilla and pineapple-lime gel, and a softly cooked egg with homemade butter brioche, Corsican coppa and Parmesan. A house speciality is linguine finished in a wheel of Parmesan and flambéed. Another pasta dish pairs pappardelle with Charolais beef, pan-fried foie gras and summer truffle. Fish preparations include salmon with Jerusalem artichoke cream, spelt and roasted hazelnuts, while monkfish comes with a concentrated bouillabaisse-style sauce. Meat choices range from veal to roast lamb and flambéed Charolais fillet. The seasonal burger uses homemade laminated brioche and is accompanied by homemade fries. Desserts continue the autumn theme with mandarin and chestnut tiramisu, apple with calisson cream, and homemade ice creams or sorbets. A separate children's menu offers meat, fish or pasta. Tables are reserved online, with a bank-card guarantee requested. Guests bringing a pushchair or a dog are asked to mention this when booking so the team can arrange a suitable place.

Bistro Pastis

Trans-en-Provence · Italian · Mediterranean · Takeout

4 Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, 83720 Trans-en-Provence

+33967217131

Bistro Pastis occupies Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Trans-en-Provence, with an Italian and Mediterranean identity and the flexibility of a village brasserie. Its position on the town hall square makes it a convenient place to pause while exploring the village. The kitchen describes its food as freshly prepared, drawing on regional dishes alongside Italian traditions. There is a choice between an air-conditioned interior and an outdoor terrace. The terrace is heated, extending the appeal of sitting outside beyond the warmest days. For a sweet finish, the selection described by the house includes tiramisu, cakes, tarts and ice cream, as well as pastries and chocolate desserts. This gives the restaurant an appeal beyond a full meal, particularly for visitors looking for something sweet with a drink. The local tourism listing records one dining room with fifty covers and a further fifty terrace covers. That arrangement offers two distinct ways to enjoy the same square: a table inside the brasserie or a seat outdoors in the village setting. A bar is also part of the establishment. Table requests can be made by telephone or through the reservation form. Takeaway is available, and private celebrations can be arranged directly with the team. Free Wi-Fi is provided, and several bank cards and contactless payments are accepted. Together, these practical facilities make Pastis an adaptable stop for couples, families or a gathering of friends.

Le Domino

Draguignan · French · Mediterranean · Lunch

28 Avenue Lazare Carnot, 83300 Draguignan

+33494525342

Le Domino combines a restaurant, guest rooms and private reception spaces on Avenue Lazare Carnot in Draguignan. The restaurant is set in a historic town building with a garden behind it, bringing a sheltered outdoor setting to an address close to the centre. Its cooking follows French traditions with Provençal and Mediterranean influences, using fresh ingredients and a menu that changes with the seasons. Chef Jacques Rolancy leads the kitchen. His career has included restaurants in France and Britain, and he also takes an interest in passing his experience to younger cooks. At Domino, the emphasis is on carefully prepared dishes served in surroundings intended to feel welcoming as well as considered. The choice includes a bistro selection, a restaurant menu and a separate chef's menu. Recent dishes illustrate the range: veal blanquette with vegetables and white rice, followed by a lychee, rose and raspberry parfait, or beef onglet with roasted parsnip and small potatoes. These are examples of a changing kitchen rather than a fixed list of permanent specialities. For private occasions, a reception room with a traditional fireplace can accommodate up to fifty seated guests. The layout can be adapted for family meals, intimate weddings, anniversaries or business gatherings. Menus, seated meals and cocktail receptions are discussed with the team. A private garden adds space for an aperitif or a break outdoors, while the restaurant terrace offers another way to enjoy the setting. Ordinary tables can be requested through the online booking service.

L'Androuno

Draguignan · French · Mediterranean · Takeout

11 Rue des Endronnes, 83300 Draguignan

+33481684599

L'Androuno is a small restaurant on Rue des Endronnes in central Draguignan, where Frédéric Chenillot's cooking combines French traditions with seasonal ideas. Caroline Di Lena looks after reservations and the welcome, while Frédéric works in the kitchen. The couple have managed the restaurant together since June 2014, giving the place a personal character shaped by their complementary roles. The dining room accommodates around fifteen guests. Outside, a terrace provides another setting for a meal and can become a pergola in colder weather. This modest scale is part of the restaurant's appeal: it offers a relatively intimate place to eat within the town centre, with space for both individual tables and organised gatherings. Fresh produce guides the kitchen, and the main menu changes approximately every three months. A separate daily selection allows the chef to respond more frequently to available ingredients. His approach draws on regional French cooking while leaving room for new combinations and adaptations. One example highlighted by the house is creamy lemon risotto with prawns, presented in different variations. Guests can choose from the available menus or order individual dishes. Takeaway meals can be arranged by reservation, and the restaurant also offers catering. For a family celebration, a meeting or a private gathering, the dining spaces can be booked with a menu discussed in advance. Reservation requests are available online, allowing visitors to contact the team before planning a meal or an occasion.

Le Relais des Moines

Les Arcs-sur-Argens · Mediterranean · Fish and seafood · Lunch

77 Route de Sainte Roseline, 83460 Les Arcs-sur-Argens

+33494474093

Thu–Mon 12:00–13:30, 19:30–21:30; Tue–Wed Closed

Le Relais des Moines stands on Route de Sainte Roseline in Les Arcs-sur-Argens, in the countryside close to Trans-en-Provence. Chef Sébastien Sanjou discovered the house in February 2002 and developed it with his team into a restaurant shaped by two regions: his native southwest France and the Provençal and Mediterranean landscape around him. Sanjou comes from Bigorre and a family involved in food trades for five generations. That background remains part of his cooking, while the surrounding area's growers and other producers provide its present-day foundation. The result is contemporary food organised around seasonal ingredients and the people who supply them. A terrace sits within wooded grounds containing old oaks and pines. From there, the outlook takes in the medieval village of Les Arcs and the Massif des Maures. It is a setting that places the landscape alongside the cooking, with trees and the wider countryside forming part of the experience. The autumn menu includes roasted fish with violet artichokes and black olives, line-caught hake with cauliflower, samphire and cockles, and roast quail with confit legs and butternut squash. Other preparations bring together beef, ceps and chard, or raw scallops with fennel and citrus. Desserts feature local figs, pears, honey and hazelnuts, and there is a selection of farmhouse cheeses. Guests can choose a menu built as a sequence of courses or explore the individual dishes. Tables can be reserved directly, and enquiries about private events are welcomed through a dedicated form.

L'Endroit

Sanary-sur-Mer · Italian · Pizza · Mediterranean

5 place Albert Cavet, 83110 Sanary-sur-Mer

+33494322114

L'Endroit occupies Place Albert Cavet in central Sanary-sur-Mer, combining a Mediterranean kitchen with a wood-fired pizzeria. Chef Nicolas Corti leads the cooking, while Arthur Lemoine prepares the pizzas. The two sides of the menu share an emphasis on fresh ingredients, seasonal produce and preparation in the restaurant. Pizza dough is mixed on the premises, slowly fermented and stretched by hand before its brief encounter with the heat of the wood oven. Toppings range from familiar combinations to creations involving burrata and anchovies or grilled vegetables with homemade pesto. Freshly sliced ham and vegetables roasted over wood also feature in the pizzeria's approach. Beyond pizza, the cooking brings together Provence and Italy. Examples include linguine with prawns flambéed in pastis, truffle cream gnocchi, sea bream fillets with market vegetables and French veal prepared Milanese style. Other dishes include sea bass and small plates intended for sharing. The restaurant works with local fishmongers, vegetable growers and cheesemakers, connecting the menu with the surrounding area. A terrace provides an outdoor setting for the meal, alongside the restaurant's convivial atmosphere. This gives a group the option of choosing between pizza and other dishes without changing addresses. Tables can be requested through the restaurant's reservation service, and the team also takes telephone enquiries for particular requirements. The combination of a dedicated pizzaiolo and a separate kitchen gives the address its character: an artisan pizza restaurant with a broader Provençal and Italian repertoire.

L.A Restaurant

Sanary-sur-Mer · French · Seating indoors · Seating outdoors

6 rue Barthélémy de Don, 83110 Sanary-sur-Mer

+33469001273

L.A Restaurant brings Anthony Lazzaro's cooking to Rue Barthélémy de Don, in the streets near Sanary's harbor. Anthony and Nadège welcome guests into a small restaurant with an indoor dining room and an enclosed courtyard terrace. The setting offers a sheltered place to eat while remaining in the town center. The kitchen draws on Provence and Calabria, combining the chef's family background with his training in cooking and pastry. His approach is to preserve the character of an ingredient while exploring unexpected combinations of flavors. A deliberately compact menu gives seasonal produce the central role. Preparations are made on the premises, extending from the small bites that begin a meal to the bread and the sweets that finish it. Guests can also choose a carte blanche experience, letting the chef determine the succession of dishes. That format suits diners who enjoy discovering a meal as it unfolds rather than choosing every course beforehand. The restaurant presents its cooking as a personal expression of a culinary inheritance, with attention given to both savory dishes and pastry. The courtyard and the interior provide different settings for the same intimate style of meal. Reservations can be made directly with the restaurant, including requests for a table for two or a larger party. Small, calm dogs are accepted when kept on a leash and on the floor throughout the meal. Appropriate dress is requested.

Restaurant de la Tour

Sanary-sur-Mer · Fish and seafood · Lunch · Dinner

24 quai Général de Gaulle, 83110 Sanary-sur-Mer

+33494741010

Restaurant de la Tour stands on Sanary's harbor within the Hôtel de la Tour, a house whose story reaches back to the nineteenth century. The Mercier family's connection began in 1936, when Lyon chef Lucien Mercier acquired the hotel. Géraldine later took over as the family's third generation, and two great-grandsons joined the dining room team in 2024. That continuity provides the background to a restaurant centered on fish, shellfish and traditional service. Christian and Bruno prepare specialties including fish baked in a salt crust, bouillabaisse and bourride. Seafood platters offer another way to explore the kitchen's maritime focus. Ingredients come from local fishing and agriculture, supported by relationships with suppliers built over many years. The connection can be very direct: fishermen sometimes arrive in the hotel lobby with a notable catch. At the table, fish is carved in front of guests, preserving a style of service that is part of the restaurant's identity. A renovated dining room and a sunny terrace provide two settings for looking out toward the harbor. Seasonal changes shape the menu, while the daily dish often features fish and is followed by a dessert made by the pastry chef. The restaurant belongs to a hotel associated with visiting writers and artists, adding a sense of local history to the meal. Its appeal lies in that combination of a working port setting, established seafood specialties and a family hospitality tradition.

La Gorguette

Sanary-sur-Mer · Lunch · Dinner · Takes reservations

140 chemin de la Plage, 83110 Sanary-sur-Mer

+33494903020

La Gorguette is the beach-level restaurant at Hostellerie La Farandole, on Chemin de la Plage in Sanary-sur-Mer. The hotel stands beside the sandy Gorguette beach, facing the Bay of Bandol. Here, the restaurant's setting brings the meal close to the sea, with the coast forming the backdrop to a kitchen focused on fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. Regional flavors guide the cooking, and the wine selection offers a way to explore both Provençal vineyards and the wider French wine tradition. The dining room has a sophisticated atmosphere within a contemporary seaside hotel. La Gorguette forms part of the property's seasonal restaurant arrangement, taking over in winter from the rooftop Panoramic. Guests choosing this address therefore encounter the beach-level setting rather than the roof terrace associated with the summer restaurant. The hotel also houses a bar serving hot drinks and refreshments, providing another place to gather around a restaurant visit. Contemporary artworks, exhibitions and sculpture contribute to the character of the wider property. Tables can be reserved directly, and the team also arranges catering for professional gatherings, including menus and cocktail receptions. Outdoor and underground parking are available on the premises, together with electric vehicle charging points. The combination of a coastal location and a regional approach to ingredients gives La Gorguette its identity. It offers a restaurant visit within a hotel designed around the beach, the bay and the surrounding Provençal landscape.

Le Bard'Ô

210 bis esplanade Frédéric Dumas, 83110 Sanary-sur-Mer

+33494884256

Le Bard'Ô overlooks Portissol beach from the edge of the bay in Sanary-sur-Mer. Its terrace faces the Mediterranean, while an indoor dining room provides another setting for a meal by the water. Andrew and his team combine restaurant dining with a bar and a program of live performances and visiting DJs. The atmosphere can therefore move from a relaxed seaside meal toward a more festive gathering. The menu travels between Mediterranean ingredients and flavors from farther afield. Sea bream carpaccio is paired with green apple, ginger and citrus, while tuna tataki comes with aromatic rice and an Asian salad. There are also clam linguine, mushroom risotto and truffle ravioli. Meat dishes include beef with herb butter, lamb shank with mashed potato and a veal chop with mushroom sauce. For sharing, guests can choose small dishes or boards of cured meats and cheeses. Desserts range from chocolate mousse to an exotic tiramisu involving lemon, coconut and passion fruit, with ice cream sundaes providing another finish. A separate children's menu is available. The terrace is also used for private gatherings, and the restaurant can prepare customized menus for birthdays, weddings, baptisms or business events. With space both inside and outdoors, it accommodates occasions larger than an ordinary table booking. The defining combination is the broad menu, sea-facing position and music program, bringing several kinds of outing together at the same beachside address.

Via Vittorio Veneto 151, 17021 Alassio

+390182648736

Il Barrante combines a Neapolitan pizzeria with a seafood restaurant on Via Vittorio Veneto, close to Alassio's beach. Its family-oriented approach makes it useful for a table whose guests want different things from the same meal: a familiar pizza, a plate of Ligurian pasta or a more substantial fish course. Lunch, dinner and a separate late-afternoon aperitivo service provide several ways to fit a visit into a day by the sea. The pizza list begins with Margherita, Marinara and anchovy-topped Napoletana, then moves into richer combinations. Parmigiana brings fried aubergine and Parmesan to the tomato-and-mozzarella base; Mortazza combines burrata, smoked provola, mortadella and pistachio. There are also spicy salami, four-cheese and buffalo-mozzarella choices, so both a simple order and a more elaborate topping are possible. The kitchen gives equal attention to coastal dishes. Start with Ligurian octopus salad, mussels or anchovies with panissa, then consider seafood scialatielli, spaghetti with clams or trofie with homemade pesto, potatoes and green beans. Grilled fish, mixed seafood fry and pistachio-crusted tuna sit alongside beef, burgers and Ligurian-style rabbit, while a children's selection keeps simpler appetites in mind. Desserts continue the meeting of local and southern Italian influences, with an Alassio hazelnut-and-coffee speciality, classic tiramisù and Neapolitan babà among the choices. The range makes Il Barrante particularly practical for families and mixed groups. Telephone for a table and mention any dietary needs so the staff can guide you through the menu.

Vico Berno 6, 17021 Alassio

Osteria Mezzaluna has occupied Vico Berno since 1993, in a small lane linking Alassio's shopping streets with the sea. Candlelit interiors and outdoor tables among plants and flowers give it the atmosphere of a Mediterranean neighbourhood osteria. Acoustic live music is part of its evening identity, so dinner here can become an occasion to linger as well as a chance to explore the menu. Sharing is an easy way to begin. Boards combine cured meats and cheeses from southern Italy, while pinzimonio pairs fresh vegetables with savoury dips. Mussels can be ordered with white wine and pepper or with basil pesto, potatoes and green beans. The seafood starters also include marinated anchovies and a combination of smoked fish and tuna. Ligurian pasta has a strong presence: trofie arrive with pesto, potatoes and beans, and ricotta-and-herb pansotti are served with walnut sauce. Seafood scialatielli and fish-filled ravioli offer alternatives, while grilled tuna, swordfish and squid move the meal towards a main course. Vegetarian choices include chickpea panissa, grilled vegetables and cheeses; children have their own smaller selection. Desserts range from fruit tiramisù to homemade cakes and fruit sorbets, with moka-brewed coffee to finish. Check the music programme if you have a particular evening in mind. Online table requests need to be made at least 24 hours ahead and require the restaurant's confirmation; call for larger groups or more immediate plans. The published evening schedule includes a Tuesday rest day.

Passeggiata Dino Grollero 18, 17021 Alassio

+390182660573

Clapsy Alassio stands between the town's narrow shopping streets and the sea on Passeggiata Dino Grollero. Orange accents brighten the outdoor tables, while handmade Vietri tiles carry that colour into the dining room. This was the first restaurant opened by Claudio and Orietta in the Clapsy family, whose story began in 2004. It is a convivial seaside address for pizza, fish and the group's own take on cheese focaccia. The focaccia is an important part of the restaurant's identity. Two thin layers enclose creamy crescenza cheese, with a classic version as well as combinations involving pesto and pine nuts, smoked speck, aubergine or other additions. Claudio learned the method while working in Recco's bakeries and developed the restaurant's own interpretation from that experience. Pizza lovers can choose between the especially thin, crisp style and a separate Neapolitan selection. The thin Margherita pairs tomato, mozzarella and basil; the vegetarian version adds courgettes, aubergine and rocket. Among the Neapolitan choices, Partenopea uses San Marzano tomato and fior di latte, while Campagnola brings grilled vegetables and burrata. There are also richer combinations with sausage, spicy salami and regional cheeses. Seafood and Ligurian country cooking broaden the offer beyond the oven. The restaurant describes its sourcing around the fish markets of Savona and Imperia, regional olive oil and selected Italian produce. It is a useful option when some of the table want pizza and others prefer a restaurant meal. Contact this Alassio branch directly to arrange your table and confirm service times.

Passeggiata Baracca 25, 17021 Alassio

La Prua has welcomed diners to Alassio's seafront since 1978. On Passeggiata Baracca, the restaurant combines three indoor dining rooms with a veranda overlooking the beach. In summer, tables can extend directly onto the sand; in cooler weather, the sheltered spaces keep the sea close to the meal. It is a setting suited to a leisurely lunch, a dinner for two or a celebration arranged with the restaurant. The kitchen draws on Ligurian and Mediterranean cooking while giving individual dishes a contemporary direction. Raw seafood selections follow the day's availability, with prawns, langoustines, oysters and fish prepared to order. Roast octopus comes with anchovy-flavoured crushed potato, tomato and Taggiasca olive, while a courgette flan with Raschera cheese offers a vegetable-based starter. Pasta and rice choices include traditional trofie, seafood spaghetti to share, and Carnaroli rice with trombetta courgette, langoustine and smoked burrata. The day's Ligurian fish can be grilled, baked in salt or prepared in the local style. Other dishes include sesame-crusted tuna, sea bass with basil and grilled Fassona beef with seasonal vegetables, giving companions different ways to build a meal. The wine selection includes regional bottles as well as wines from elsewhere in Italy. Desserts range from an espresso tiramisù to lemon-and-basil ice cream with Ligurian stroscia and strawberry compote. Reserve ahead if you would like a particular seaside setting, and check which outdoor tables and fish specialities are available for your visit.

Via Lepanto 1, Frazione Solva, 17021 Alassio

+390182644744

Ristorante La Vigna sits above Alassio in the hamlet of Solva, where its terrace looks across the gulf. A grape pergola, flowers and softly coloured interiors give the osteria a different atmosphere from the busy seafront below. The setting encourages a slower meal, with the view forming part of the occasion and the kitchen keeping the ingredients of the surrounding region in focus. Its cooking brings together the western Ligurian coast, Provence and the Langhe. Fresh pasta, bread and pastries are made in house, and the menu changes with the seasons. Seafood has a central role: raw violet prawns and langoustines, local fish, tuna, octopus and gently cooked salt cod appear among the restaurant's specialities. An oyster selection offers another way to begin a meal by the coast. The pasta repertoire is particularly distinctive. Agnolotti al plin are filled with roast rabbit, while seafood tortelli, tagliolini with prawns or lobster, and Carnaroli seafood rice show the maritime side of the kitchen. Meat eaters can look for Ligurian-style rabbit, Fassona beef and slow-cooked veal. Seasonal vegetables accompany the main dishes rather than being treated as an afterthought. The restaurant also gives careful attention to its wine selection, so the meal can be planned around a bottle as well as a dish. Book a table directly and use the Solva address when arranging your journey: this is a hillside destination above the town. Mon–Sun 12:00–14:00, 19:00–21:00

Ô & Cimes combines a family restaurant, a bar and a small hotel on avenue Gaby Menaldo in Saint-Pierre-d'Albigny. The house describes itself as independent and family run, and its food brings together two traditions: French cooking and Moroccan specialties. Homemade couscous is one of the central dishes, presented as something to share with family or friends. There is also a royal couscous, whose precise composition and availability are discussed when booking. Pastillas offer another route into the Moroccan side of the kitchen. The restaurant names both chicken and fish versions and encourages guests to ask about them while arranging their meal. Traditional French dishes remain part of the offer alongside these specialties, so the restaurant's identity rests on the combination rather than a single national style. The same family approach carries into arrangements for larger parties. Guests planning a meal with relatives, friends or another group can contact the team with their date and number of participants to discuss the possibilities. A bar and terrace provide space for coffee or a drink before or after eating. The restaurant welcomes people coming for a meal as well as travelers staying in the hotel's seventeen rooms. Free parking is available on site, and table reservations are made directly by telephone. The municipality identifies the operators as Mr. and Mrs. Elhousny and lists the property as a hotel, restaurant and bar. For a nearby holiday stay, it offers a straightforward way to combine familiar French food with a Moroccan dish arranged directly with the family.

La Table d'Auré is the restaurant of a hotel in Chamousset, at the meeting of the Tarentaise, Maurienne and Val Gelon valleys. Mallory and Aurélien Moutard run the house, bringing their hospitality backgrounds to a kitchen centered on food prepared in house from fresh ingredients. They work with local producers and choose products according to the season. The setting includes three restaurant rooms and a terrace beside a park of about four thousand square meters. The tourism office describes the grounds as bordered by a small river, giving the address a quieter outdoor dimension. The published menu shows a substantial French repertoire. Starters include game pie with Périgord sauce, eggs in red wine sauce and foie gras with Espelette pepper. Fish choices include Lake Geneva perch prepared meunière and a market fish dish with vegetables. Among the meat dishes are slowly cooked black pork from Pralognan, game stewed with Mondeuse wine, and veal kidneys with Madeira sauce. Larger dishes for sharing include lamb shoulder and beef, while cheese and desserts provide several ways to finish. Tarte Tatin, chocolate cake and roasted figs with blueberries appear among the sweet options. Wine is an important part of the house, with more than a hundred references from across France, a substantial Savoy selection and a choice of Chartreuse. The restaurant also accommodates business meals and groups, with a seminar room equipped for presentations. Its combination of seasonal cooking, several dining spaces and garden surroundings makes it a practical address for both individual meals and planned gatherings.

Le Repère

Bourgneuf · Pizza · French · Burgers

17 route de la Maurienne, 73390 Bourgneuf

+33479337405

Le Repère is a small restaurant on route de la Maurienne in Bourgneuf, opened in November 2023. The kitchen follows a traditional French brasserie approach, with food made in house and an emphasis on nearby producers. The team keeps the menu deliberately short and identifies its suppliers on the menu, making the origin of the ingredients part of the meal. Burgers feature in the restaurant's own account of its cooking, while pizza has a separate place in the offer. A changing daily menu provides another way to eat here. The owners describe their aim as serving generous food they enjoy cooking and giving the people already at the table time to enjoy themselves. That preference for a manageable room carries through to the setting: there is an indoor dining space and outdoor seating for meals in suitable weather. The restaurant can also be booked privately for birthdays, baptisms and other gatherings. Anyone organizing a group meal is asked to contact the team directly to discuss the event. The tourism office confirms private hire, lunch and dinner service, and evening entertainment as parts of the restaurant's activity. It also lists English and French as spoken languages and welcomes guests accompanied by pets. Card payments, cash, meal vouchers and contactless payments are accepted according to the same official listing. Reservations are handled directly with the restaurant. For visitors based around Saint-Pierre-d'Albigny, the appeal is a compact village brasserie with a clear connection to its suppliers and the possibility of arranging a more personal group occasion.

Le Carouge sits beside the lake of the same name at the Carouge leisure area in Saint-Pierre-d'Albigny. Water and mountain views shape the setting, with a large shaded terrace giving the restaurant much of its outdoor character. The kitchen describes its approach as traditional French cooking made in house with local and seasonal produce. Its published examples include perch fillets and frog legs, while the autumn and winter presentation gives particular attention to frog legs prepared by advance order. A sommelier selects the wines to accompany the food, making the cellar another part of the restaurant's identity. There is also a lighter side to a visit, with drinks, pastries and crêpes available alongside the restaurant offer. This makes the address relevant for a lakeside pause as well as a full meal. The local tourism office describes a restaurant section and a separate snack chalet, with French songs and strings of lights contributing to a guinguette atmosphere. Its account also mentions mussels, homemade burgers and artisan ice cream. Groups can arrange a meal here, and the restaurant explicitly welcomes reservations for parties of ten or more. Birthdays, company gatherings and meals with friends are among the occasions it hosts. The entire restaurant can be booked for a private event by arrangement. For visitors staying nearby, the appeal is the combination of a proper meal, an outdoor setting and the lake immediately beside the leisure area. Reservations and event arrangements are handled directly with the restaurant by telephone.

280 rue de la Mairie, 73250 Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte

Le Saint-Jean is a village bar, restaurant and pizzeria on rue de la Mairie in Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte. The kitchen presents Italian cooking alongside French specialties, with pizza among its named dishes. The local tourism office adds a Savoy dimension, listing regional cooking and cheese specialties as part of the offer. Together, these give the restaurant a broader role than a pizza stop alone. Guests can come for lunch or dinner, sit on the terrace when the weather allows, or order food to take away. Drinks include coffee and tea, beer, wine and other alcoholic and soft drinks. The tourism listing describes one dining room with forty places and another forty seats on the terrace. It also identifies the restaurant as a venue for banquets, birthdays and group meals. Evening entertainment and karaoke are mentioned there, while the restaurant has published a past pop and rock event of its own. These details suggest a social village meeting place as much as somewhere to eat. Practical arrangements are clearly described by the operator. Parking is available without charge, guests with reduced mobility are welcomed, and dogs are allowed. Tables can be requested through the restaurant's reservation form or by telephone. Takeaway and catering are available for people arranging food elsewhere. Payment options include cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard and meal vouchers. Visitors planning a celebration or bringing a group can discuss their requirements directly with the restaurant. The combination of a bar, outdoor tables, French and Italian cooking, and meals to take home gives the address several uses during a stay in the area.

L'Ami Louis is a fish and seafood restaurant on the quay at Centre-Port in Cap d'Agde, at Quai Di Dominico, 11 Rue de la Gabelle. The name goes back to 1931, when Louis, great-grandfather of the current generation, opened a bar-brasserie near Paris. His daughter Janine and her husband Joseph Abadie took over in 1960; Joseph came from Portiragnes near Béziers, and when Cap d'Agde was built as a resort in the 1970s the family moved south and reopened on the Port Brescou quays. Sons Jean-Louis and Jérôme took charge in 1990, and Vincent Abadie, Joseph's eldest grandson, joined in 2003: four generations. The dining room is contemporary, in pastel tones, with a view over the marina. Fish and shellfish come first: Thau lagoon oysters, rock-fish soup with rouille, sea bass in a salt crust sold by weight, sole belle meunière, monkfish bourride, and lobster or langoustines sold by weight in season. Meat eaters get a four-hour braised lamb shank, duck confit or beef filet; the wines are Minervois, La Clape, Faugères. There is a two-course express formula at weekday lunch, three set menus of increasing length, the full carte, and a children's menu up to age eight. Lunch runs from noon to 1:45 pm, dinner from 7 to 9:45 pm. Outside July and August the restaurant is closed Wednesday, Thursday and Tuesday evening; in high season it serves every evening, with an early-diner offer between 7 and 7:30 pm. Book by phone on +33 4 67 26 25 48 or through the form on the website, not by email. Dogs are welcome if mentioned when booking; high chairs are few, so ask. From a rental in the marina it is a short walk; from Agde old town a quarter of an hour by car.

Passion Glacée is an ice-cream parlor at 11 Allée de la Flânerie, the pedestrian street at the heart of Centre-Port in Cap d'Agde, a few steps from the marina. It is a producer, not just a shop: the ice cream is made on the premises in the Italian style from raw ingredients rather than powders or mixes, and even the cones are baked in-house, including a chocolate-dipped version. Alongside the scooped flavors there are sorbets, soft-serve, granitas, milkshakes and smoothies, and for the children crêpes, bubble waffles and churros, also made on site. For the 2025 opening weekend the special was a Ferrero Rocher ice cream churned on the spot. The parlor works a summer rhythm: it opens for the Easter weekend and serves through the season, with the longest lines on July and August evenings when the promenade fills after dinner. There is seating, so it works as a sit-down stop rather than a takeaway window only, and the entrance is step-free. Cards and contactless payment are accepted, Pluxee meal cards too, and there is Wi-Fi. The phone number is +33 4 67 26 32 62; flavors and opening days are posted on the shop's Facebook and Instagram accounts, the quickest way to check a shoulder-season day. For a family in a rental at Cap d'Agde the position is the point: the parlor sits between the marina and the resort beaches, so it fits into an evening walk after the beach or a turn round the port. From Agde old town it is a quarter of an hour by car; the Allée itself is closed to cars, so park in one of the lots around Centre-Port and walk the last stretch.

26 Avenue Général de Gaulle, 34300 Agde

Mon–Sun 06:00–20:00

Le Fournil d'Agde is an artisan bakery at 26 Avenue Général de Gaulle, a few minutes on foot from the old town and the river. Simon Queneau has run it with his team since 2018. The bread is made the slow way: flours from a local miller, older grain varieties among them, a natural sourdough starter, hand kneading. The range covers a crisp baguette de tradition, cereal, rye, corn and whole-wheat loaves, and a soft pain de mie for sandwiches. The pastry counter changes with the seasons and mixes classics (éclairs, millefeuilles, lemon and fruit tarts, chocolate desserts) with the bakery's own creations. Number cakes for birthdays, wedding cakes and petits fours for christenings are made to order; everything, the house states, is made on the premises. For a vacation rental this is above all a supply stop. The shop opens every day, Sunday included, from 6 am to 8 pm, so bread and croissants can be fetched before an early start to the beach, and a picnic put together from the savory counter: bakery pizzas, quiches, sandwiches with crudités, paninis and seasonal salads, plus a dish of the day at lunchtime. There is seating inside and a few tables on the square in front, where a breakfast formula with coffee is served. The bakery also caters private and business events, from starter to dessert, quoted on request. Orders for cakes and catering go through the form on the website or by email to lefournildagde@gmail.com; the phone is +33 4 67 26 76 08, and the day's offer is posted on the bakery's Facebook page. Cap d'Agde and Le Grau-d'Agde are each ten to fifteen minutes away by car, so the bakery suits a rental in Agde itself or a stop on the way out.

Le Bistro d'Hervé is a small restaurant at 47 Rue Brescou, in the center of Agde's old town a few streets from the Hérault quays. Hervé Dos Santos cooks and Sabine Dos Santos runs the room. The kitchen calls its style creative and refined, built on seasonal produce with the flavors of the South, and is equally fond of "plats canailles", hearty bistro dishes done with care. Recent cards have carried a red tuna tataki with ratatouille, scallops on a Jerusalem artichoke velouté and meagre from the plancha with saffron risotto, next to standards such as eggs en meurette, beef tartare and rum baba. The wines stay in the Languedoc. The house holds the Maître Restaurateur title, which certifies cooking from raw ingredients on the premises, and is listed in the Michelin and Gault&Millau guides. The room is contemporary and air-conditioned, with a small terrace under shade sails and a covered one for hot July evenings. Service runs Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 2 pm and 7:30 to 10 pm; Sunday and Monday are closed, and the restaurant works year-round apart from a break around Christmas and New Year. Tables go quickly in summer, so call +33 4 67 62 30 69 or write to bistroherve@gmail.com a day or two ahead. Groups of up to 40 can be seated with notice. For a family in a vacation rental nearby: there is a children's menu, dogs are accepted, and the premises carry the Tourisme & Handicap label, with step-free tables and adapted restrooms. A public parking lot lies about 100 meters away by the cinema; the train station is a 13-minute walk. From Cap d'Agde or Le Grau-d'Agde count a quarter of an hour by car for an evening away from the beachfront grills.

Le Ponton stands at 19 Quai du Commandant Méric on the left bank of the Hérault at Le Grau-d'Agde, where the river runs out into the Mediterranean. There are three places to sit: a dining room open to the quay, a shaded terrace, and the wooden pontoon that gives the place its name, built out over the river so that you eat with the water under your feet and the boats passing on their way to sea. The beach and the jetty are a few minutes' walk down the quay. The cooking is traditional and Mediterranean, and the house makes its own foie gras, a mi-cuit marinated in Muscat and cooked in a bain-marie, served as a jar for two. The card leans toward the sea: cuttlefish and king prawns on the plancha in Provençal butter, marinated tuna cooked rare, sea bream and sea bass fillets, moules-frites, a plancha mixed grill of fish, Bouzigues oysters and a fry of joël, the tiny local fish, with house aioli. For meat there is roast duck breast and a Black Angus ribeye. The Salade du Ponton stacks foie gras toast, cured ham, smoked salmon and blinis on one plate. A three-course set menu runs every day at lunch and dinner, with orders until 1:30 pm and 9:30 pm, and a children's menu covers children up to age ten. Until the end of June the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and Sunday evenings; in July and August it opens every day. Reservations go through the mobile number +33 6 27 20 09 03. Access is step-free, restaurant vouchers and French holiday checks are accepted, and groups of up to 150 can be seated on request. Jardin de l’Annonciade, Chemin de l’Annonciade, 20200 Bastia

+33495654564

Côté Jardin occupies a leafy corner of Bastia’s Jardin de l’Annonciade, where a wooden terrace and parasols give the restaurant something of a beach pavilion’s atmosphere. Trees and lawns surround the tables, while a children’s play area stands beside the terrace. The setting makes the garden part of the meal: somewhere to sit together outdoors, with space around the table and greenery beyond it. The restaurant was conceived by Michel and his nephew Jean-Louis as a gathering place for families and people working in the city. The kitchen combines familiar restaurant dishes with ideas from contemporary street food, using fresh, seasonal ingredients for homemade preparations. Its published menu ranges from a chicken bowl with breaded goat cheese, sweet potato and avocado to pulled beef in pita bread and pork ribs with a house marinade. A classic burger comes with cheddar, tomato and onions. Other choices include pumpkin cream gnocchi with grilled pancetta, crunchy vegetables with Chinese noodles, prawn skewers and pasta combining octopus with sausage. These combinations give the menu variety without tying the restaurant to a single national cuisine. Desserts are another substantial part of the offer. Paris-Brest and a coconut, strawberry and lemon entremet appear alongside a selection of ice creams and fruit sorbets, including Corsican clementine. The restaurant also arranges private celebrations such as birthdays, baptisms and communions, including a personalized cake. Tables can be requested through its reservation form or by telephone.

Le Port, 20222 Brando

Le Pirate stands at the harbour in Erbalunga, among waterfront houses and the rocky shoreline beneath the village's Genoese tower. Its cooking brings together seafood and meat through an à la carte selection and several tasting menus. The setting places the restaurant within the small fishing village itself, with the marine landscape forming part of the experience. On the published menu, langoustine tortellini are paired with hazelnut and shellfish, while John Dory comes with olive oil and cauliflower. Monkfish combines smoked flavours with seasonal vegetables and a sauce involving both shellfish and meat. The meat dishes have equally specific accompaniments: veal with carrots and thyme, pigeon with beetroot and raspberry, and beef fillet with crisp Anna potatoes and nori. These combinations give a useful sense of a kitchen that works across the island's land and sea. The tasting formats include four, six and eight courses, with seasonal inspiration and a progression through savoury dishes to pastry. Cheese can form another part of the meal, with Corsican selections appearing alongside those from mainland France. Desserts explore combinations such as smoked chocolate, lemon, miso caramel and pecans, or pistachio with financier, strawberry and sorbet. Wine pairings offer a choice between Corsican and mainland selections. A children's menu is also available. Tables can be reserved directly by telephone, and the contact form includes a space for allergies. The result is a harbour restaurant with a carefully structured menu and a distinctly ingredient-led approach.

Les Américains

Erbalunga, 20222 Brando

+33495301030

Les Américains is the restaurant of the Castel Brando, a hotel set in a nineteenth century mansion in Erbalunga, the old fishing village of Brando on the east coast of Cap Corse, about fifteen minutes north of Bastia. The name comes from the house itself. It is one of the 'maisons d'américains' of the cape: built in 1853 by a Corsican doctor who had served in the Napoleonic armies, it was later taken over and embellished by a man from the village who came home from Saint Domingue after decades abroad and planted the exotic park of palms, cedars and other trees that still surrounds it. Joëlle and Jean Paul Pieri bought the ruined family house in 1990 and restored it. The kitchen describes its food as simple and full of flavour, built on a careful choice of the best producers on Cap Corse and inspired by the island's own cooking, between the mountains and the Mediterranean. The idea at the table is to eat together and share local classics at the foot of the old house, with wines from the region alongside. Dinner is served every evening except Wednesday, and in season there is also a lunchtime table d'hôte that does not need a booking; for dinner, online reservation is available. The restaurant is open to people who are not staying at the hotel. Around it are a shaded inner patio with a centuries old olive tree, a vaulted library lounge, two pools and private parking, and the hotel welcomes pets. From a holiday home in Sisco it is a short drive south for an unhurried evening meal.

10 Rue Pino, 20200 Bastia

Micca Nome is a Corsican restaurant on Rue Pino in Bastia's market quarter. Its menu keeps the island's language alongside its food, with dishes listed under Corsican headings for starters, main courses and desserts. Fresh cheese fritters and anchovies prepared in the Bastia style introduce a selection that moves between cured meats, pasta and seafood. The charcuterie comes from Joseph Borragini and sons in Murato, with coppa, lonzu and sausage named on the menu. A larger platter adds terrine and cheese fritters. Main courses include pasta with bottarga, veal with olives and penne, wild boar in sauce with mafaldine, and cannelloni filled with brocciu. Seafood has several forms here: sardines stuffed with brocciu, squid in sauce with rice, fish soup, and a fisherman's plate combining soup with fish fillets, cuttlefish, prawns and mussels. Lamb shank with figs and honey offers another route through the menu. Children have their own small selection, including buttered pasta or a fried egg with fries. Desserts continue the Corsican thread with fiadone, pastizzu and chestnut crème brûlée, alongside hazelnut tiramisu and a cheese plate. The wine list ranges across the island, including Saparale, Domaine de la Punta, Gioielli, Clos Capitoro and producers from the Calvi area. Tables can be booked directly by telephone or email. The address, food and wine together make this a focused introduction to Corsican cooking within the old market neighbourhood.

La Table des Gouverneurs is the restaurant of Hôtel des Gouverneurs in Bastia’s citadel, overlooking the Old Port and the Mediterranean. It welcomes visitors as well as hotel residents. A panoramic terrace brings the harbor into view, while the interior combines contemporary furnishings with traditional touches. In cooler weather, the lounge with its fireplace offers another setting for a meal. The kitchen centers on homemade cooking, seasonal produce and ingredients selected from Corsican suppliers, with Mediterranean influences running through the dishes. The menu gives those local connections tangible form. Crostini use organic bread from A Pagnotta in Bastia, paired with dried tomato, basil and burratina. Fresh cheese fritters feature cheese from A Tinella in Lucciana, while a charcuterie selection brings together sausage, coppa, lonzu and ham. Seafood choices include sea bass with grilled vegetables and octopus paired with Iberian chorizo and chickpea piperade. Lamb is accompanied by pea hummus and mint, and the seasonal risotto can be prepared in a vegetarian version. Desserts range from a chocolate creation to an apricot tartlet with rosemary, black sesame and meringue. Another option combines vanilla ice cream, canistrelli, almonds, coffee and whipped cream. Corsican cheeses with fig jam provide a savory finish. The wine list includes bottles from Corsica and mainland France, while the hotel bar develops cocktails around fresh ingredients and spirits from small distilleries. A separate children’s menu offers breaded chicken with potatoes followed by ice cream. Reservations are available online or by telephone.

Ristorante Mont Néry is the restaurant of the Villa Fridau residence in Gressoney-Saint-Jean. Its name goes back to the Locanda Mont Néry, which the family's great-uncles Erwin and Pina Monterin ran in the village in the 1950s. Today Marysa looks after the dining room and chef Boris Melon runs the kitchen. The cooking is Aosta Valley and Piedmontese, built on produce from close by: the valley's cured meats and cheeses, fresh pasta made in the house with a choice of sauces, and game served with polenta. The ice cream is homemade, in flavors that follow the season, and Boris and Marysa are glad to suggest a bottle from the wine list.

La Palta stands in Bilegno, a hamlet so small that the restaurant describes itself as a hidden gem behind uneven walls — set among gentle hills, kitchen gardens and old houses in the province of Piacenza. The building gives nothing away from the road, which is part of how the place presents itself. The cooking is ambitious rather than rustic, and the house says so in its own words: the eyes come before the nose and the palate. Unexpected combinations are the method. Two dishes stand for the range — tortelli con la coda, the tailed parcels that are the signature pasta of Piacenza and are folded here in the traditional way, and black ravioli served in an exotic broth that belongs to no local tradition at all. The kitchen is run by a female chef, and the house describes eating here as travelling between the smells of home and inspirations from far away. Gift vouchers for a lunch or dinner are sold through the restaurant's own site. Service runs Tuesday to Saturday, lunch from half past twelve to half past two and dinner from eight to ten. On Sunday there is lunch only, and Monday it is closed. Booking is advisable: the room is small and the restaurant draws people from well beyond the province. You will find La Palta at Frazione Bilegno 67, 29011 Bilegno, Piacenza.

Antica trattoria Del Tempio stands on Via Creta in Vicobarone, a hamlet of Ziano Piacentino in the Val Tidone. The name is the owners' own and says what kind of house it is: a trattoria, and an old one — the everyday restaurant of an Italian village rather than a destination built for visitors. The opening hours describe how it is used. Lunch is served every day except Wednesday, from midday to half past two. Dinner exists on Friday and Saturday only, from eight to ten. A kitchen arranged that way is cooking for people who eat their main meal in the middle of the day, which in this part of Emilia is still most of them, and it means a visitor planning an evening here on a Tuesday will find it closed. Vicobarone sits in the Colli Piacentini, the wine hills between the Po plain and the Apennine ridge. The province is known for three cured meats with protected status — coppa, pancetta and salame piacentino — and for Gutturnio, the red grown on these slopes. Ziano Piacentino is one of the centres of that production, and Vicobarone is one of its hamlets. We hold no website for this trattoria, so nothing is described here about its cooking. The telephone is the way to ask, and to book. You will find it at Via Creta 6, 29010 Vicobarone, Ziano Piacentino.

Morgenrot is a chalet restaurant in the meadows of Bedemie above Gressoney-La-Trinité, run by its owner, Giorgio. The kitchen keeps to the Aosta Valley: fondue chinoise, polenta concia rich with melted cheese, and zuppa alla valpellinentze, the local soup of bread, cabbage and fontina baked in the oven. The wine list stays close to home too, with labels from the Aosta Valley and Piedmont. In winter the chalet sits in deep snow and is reached on skis during the day. For dinner a snowcat picks guests up and brings them back down again, which turns an evening meal into a small expedition. In summer it is a walk across green pastures.
