Konoba Šanpjer

Šanpjer combines a family fish shop and a seafood tavern on Rab's waterfront promenade. The restaurant began welcoming guests in 1997, and the connection between the fish counter and the kitchen remains central to its identity. Wooden tables and benches sit outside beneath an awning and palms, placing the meal alongside the activity of the old-town harbour.

Fish and shellfish guide the menu. Grilled sea bass or sea bream, fried or grilled squid, scampi and mussels offer several ways to build a seafood lunch. The house Šanpjer platter is designed for two, bringing fish, squid, scampi and shellfish together with chard and potatoes. It is a useful order when two diners want to share a broader selection.

There are also seafood pastas, fish soup and risottos, including a black risotto. Smaller starters such as marinated anchovies offer another route into the meal before a main course. To finish, the menu includes Rab cake, ice cream and pancakes with sweet fillings. Ask which fish and shellfish are available on the day before deciding on a particular plate.

The local tourism board lists a season from April through October, so check directly before visiting near either end of that period. It also identifies the venue as suitable for children and welcoming to dogs. A telephone reservation is sensible for a waterfront table, especially if you are planning the meal around an old-town outing.
