Restaurant La Grotte brings a seasonal restaurant into a natural cave on Place des Moulins in Trans-en-Provence. Chantal and Philippe welcome guests with their team, while chef Philippe Funel develops a menu that changes roughly every three months. The setting gives the meal a distinctive character: a cave dining room rather than a conventional streetfront restaurant, suited to a shared celebration or a meal for two. The autumn selection combines familiar French ingredients with pasta, seafood and carefully assembled sauces. Starters include sea bream ceviche with coconut, vanilla and pineapple-lime gel, and a softly cooked egg with homemade butter brioche, Corsican coppa and Parmesan. A house speciality is linguine finished in a wheel of Parmesan and flambéed. Another pasta dish pairs pappardelle with Charolais beef, pan-fried foie gras and summer truffle. Fish preparations include salmon with Jerusalem artichoke cream, spelt and roasted hazelnuts, while monkfish comes with a concentrated bouillabaisse-style sauce. Meat choices range from veal to roast lamb and flambéed Charolais fillet. The seasonal burger uses homemade laminated brioche and is accompanied by homemade fries. Desserts continue the autumn theme with mandarin and chestnut tiramisu, apple with calisson cream, and homemade ice creams or sorbets. A separate children's menu offers meat, fish or pasta. Tables are reserved online, with a bank-card guarantee requested. Guests bringing a pushchair or a dog are asked to mention this when booking so the team can arrange a suitable place.
