Restaurante Neptuno Mojácar

Neptuno stands beside Playa del Descargador on Mojácar's Mediterranean shore. Fish cooked over embers, espetos and rice dishes form the centre of its cooking, with an emphasis on traditional recipes and ingredients sourced nearby. The setting brings the beach directly into the experience: the restaurant faces the sea, and steps lead down towards the sand. It is a place built around the connection between coastal cooking and its surroundings, with the water providing the backdrop to a meal.

Behind the restaurant is Fran Andreu, who grew up in Orihuela in Alicante. Large gatherings of family and friends, home cooking and wine shaped her interest in hospitality long before she worked in restaurants. Her earlier career included banking, advisory work and property. While living in Mojácar and working in property, she heard that the Neptuno beach restaurant might be available and bought it with an Irish business partner. She subsequently took over running it herself.

That personal history remains part of the restaurant's identity. Its cooking developed towards Mediterranean recipes prepared in house, with attention to local produce and the surrounding environment. The main choices revolve around the sea, whether through the direct heat of the grill or the rice preparations that are another house speciality. Guests can request a table through the restaurant's reservation service or contact the team by telephone. Neptuno also offers gift vouchers for meals, extending its emphasis on gathering around a table to celebrations and presents.
