Tobis Hüs

Tobis Hüs is Tobias and Corda Kusch’s restaurant on Gaadt in Westerland. Tobias opened it in February 2017 after spending years working in other restaurants, bringing his enthusiasm for food and wine back to his family’s home island. The result is a personal dining room whose hosts place conversation and contact with guests at the centre of the experience. Chef Cristina Munteanu has been part of the kitchen since the beginning, cooking with predominantly regional and seasonal ingredients. Alongside the regular menu, changing recommendations give the kitchen room to work with what the season brings. Several dishes make the table itself part of the meal. Beef tartare is prepared beside the guests and served with Tobi’s homemade beef and tartare sauce. Pasta is finished in a Parmesan wheel, giving another familiar dish a more theatrical presentation. Tiramisu also receives its finishing touches at the table, carrying that approach through to dessert. Wine is a particular interest of the hosts, though freshly drawn beer is another option with the food. The restaurant’s character comes from this combination of a familiar welcome, seasonal cooking and dishes assembled in front of the people eating them. It suits visitors who enjoy an interactive meal and a host with a clear personal connection to the restaurant. Table requests can be made through the reservation form or by email.
