The Heilhauser Mühle is a converted historic mill on the L12 between Lünebach and Waxweiler, down in the Prüm valley where the road runs between trees and water. The family has run it as a Landgasthof for more than thirty years and is now in its third generation; a small campground sits on the same grounds. Inside there are several distinct rooms: the snug Mühlenstube, a sunny winter garden, a fireplace room and a rustic barn whose glass floor looks straight down onto the old, illuminated mill wheel. Outside, a beer garden and a terrace face the mill pond, and the house recommends them as the stop after a walk. The cooking is regional country fare, running from schnitzel to rump steak, with game specialities, fish, vegetarian options and children's dishes, plus seasonal recommendations that change with what is available. Examples the house names are the 'Eifelliebe' salad with curry dressing, chicken and fresh fruit, the 'Mühlenknacker', a stuffed pancake filled with minced meat and cheese, and at weekends fresh salmon in wine sauce with rice and salad from the buffet. The mill lies directly on the Prümtal hiking trail, the Prümtal cycle path and the Panoramaweg 100, so hikers and cyclists arrive on foot or by bike and families come for a long Sunday lunch. Family celebrations, walking groups and company outings can book a set menu or a rustic buffet, and groups can be received outside the regular hours by arrangement. The house closes for a winter break each year and reopens in spring.

KaffeeMühle is the café within KulturMühle Buchhagen, a restored sandstone mill in the countryside near Bodenwerder. It belongs to the cultural center run by Kaleidoskop e.V., where food, local participation and the life of the old building come together. A volunteer café team has operated the Mühlen-Café since the beginning of 2018, with service and cake baking supported by people who contribute their time and ideas. The offer centers on homemade cakes and drinks, including coffee, making the café a natural stopping point for a quiet break in Buchhagen. It is also a social space: the organizers encourage people to meet, take part and develop activities around the café. A handicraft gathering is among the recurring formats associated with it. The wider KulturMühle program includes concerts, exhibitions and other cultural events, giving the building a purpose beyond a conventional café visit. The mill itself provides plenty of context for anyone interested in the area's history. Built for the von Hake family in 1867, it was used to grind sandstone slabs, some of which traveled as far as America. The building is made from sandstone quarried in the Vogler and forms part of a protected historic ensemble. It reopened as a cultural venue in 2008 after restoration. Its position near the Weser cycle route and the Loccum–Volkenroda pilgrimage route makes it worth considering when planning a local outing with a café stop.
